Default H23 with H22 VTEC head - how to and expected power rating?

Hello all,

I am working on a frankenstien motor. It is a 92 H23a with 80k and I have a USDM 93 VTEC head with JDM Type S cams with new cam seals and 40k on the head. I heard there you can't just slap this head on the H23a but I can't find any info on how to do this properly.

Also, what horspower and torque can I expect from this combo. The H23a had 160hp, and a 93 VTEC is rated at 190hp. I am guessing I can get 240 hp with headers and cold air intake. I am also thinking of putting a VENOM intake on here too but I might save it for my 93 JDM Lude.

Also, are the H23a intake manifolds and the H22a manifolds the same?

Any help is appreciated, especially on the head change.

Thanks man.....that thread opened my eyes up a bit further. Think maybe I'll just dump the whole swap on Ebay for someone else to do. I don't want to sink that much time or cash into it.

Thanks to all others too but keep the info coming as I may do this in the spring when the weather is warmer and I have more time to dedicate.

Yeah, it is better to start with full H22 swap...and just buy the H23 block and crank.

I thought about doing the hybrid but there just is too much uncertainty. I would rather build up and H22 than make an H23VTEC.

Some say you can rev the hybrid as high as a regular H22, however, others say that you can't. I would rather go with the certainty because I can't justify spending too much money on this car.

Do some research before attempting it.
