Default JDM questions

i am going to buy a 88 hf w/b16 and was wondering if there is any way to use the jdm door panels (since the seatbelt are mounted inside the door) and what about a JDM front end conversion...will it bolt up or does it too need mods to work??

thanks...

'88 HF should have the seat belts mounted to the B-pillar just like a JDM CRX.

the jdm front end is fairly simple...everything bolts right up except the hood which partially bolts up...the headlights fit right in and also the bumper, the only prob. is where the hood latches. you need to move the latch about 1" which means saw and chop your radiator support or buy a jdm one, about $100 I think...this took me about 3 hours...

Ive always wondered, is there some sort of advantage of having your belts in the doors? A lot of American cars seem to do this, why?

No. The reason was to make them partially passive, to comply with impending laws in the United States in the early 1990s which would require passive seat belts in all cars. The laws never took effect though. Long story.

Cheers for the heads up. Always thought it a bit odd since surely the door frame isnt the best place to anchor a seatbelt when 350lbs Billy Bob climbs into the car
