Default Suspension advice (searched)

I currently building a built ls/vtec with sc61 and plan to put 4-500whp on the ground. I've looked at tein site but im not sure what to go with. It is a street car, but is only coming out for that one reason. I'm thinking about the Flex's but id like to know what the next step up is and if that would be overkill.

Let me know what you guys think, the only similar topic seemed to be an H22eg.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the Tein's require periodic rebuilding? If you are looking for a streetable setup, why not get a set of konis and springs? It would be a quality low maintenance setup.

400 whp is gonna need some pretty stiff springs. you won't get that with tein ss. i say get some konis with ground control coilovers and *custom spring rates*

i say u run 450/600 rates (f/r) and use some sort of traction bar up front. also, a 22mm rear swaybar and a smaller one up front.also, you MUST have a camber kit up front, for when u drop it, ur gunna lower ur contact patch; not good for 400whp.

Get springs and struts. Traction bar in the front - or else wheel hop will kill your car. Rear sway bar helps, and all the strut bars (front and back) stiffen the car a lot.

I gotta say, maybe I'm just having an off day, but I don't really see how the amount of power you have dictates the stiffness of your springs or what size sway bars to use. You choose things based on the intended use of the car (which we haven't been told), the chassis, and its balance.

stiffer springs help a high power car pitch back less. the weight is kept on the front wheels, instead of weight transferring to the rear, physically lifting the traction off the drive wheels. sway bars are being suggested for tackling the twisties.

if your going to be making that kind of power, safety should be a concern. you should want a roll cage.

That has been considered as well as a bigger brake system.

That's a lot of power for a street car.

I agree, stiffer springs will help keep the car from pitching back, and weight transfer is an issue. My point is that the car and engine will weigh the same whether it is making 200whp or 400whp.

I understand the sway bars, but again, what does HP have to do with sway bars?

So like I said, I don't understand why people were making suggestions based solely on his projected hp numbers.

The only suspension component that I can understand someone recommending based on hp numbers would be a good set of traction bars... http://www.jimfab.com , http://www.exospeed.com
