Default I put in a ITR cam today...and I'm sad. (CTR)

I bought a used ITR cam from Jason (better known as IH8Ricerz) and some inner valve springs from Rocket. I put the springs in with no problem and replaced the timing belt while i was at it. I adjusted the valves and threw it all back together. I was so excited to take it out and see the difference and was sadly suprised that i felt NO difference! And if there is ANY difference it is a loss! I have no idea why this has happened. If you have any idea let me know.

This is a B16 in a CRX with I/H/E

Butt dyno, 100% accurate 0% of the time. Get some real numbers before you say you are losing power. Tuning is key when making large changes such as cam changes.

i am not doubting your nifty butt dyno quote, but i've been doing this long enough to notice a difference in power gains. There was/is so much hype about the CTR/ITR cams and I dont see it, sorry.

Throw it on the dyno and get it tuned and youll notice the differance. Cams are not a bolt on and go mod. My skunk stage1's were horrible before tuned

what i have seen people doing with the b16 is doing the itr's inner springs and portflow outter springs working fine and making good power so you have one itr cam and one stock b16 cam.

When I put the CTR cam on my 99 Si, it not only felt slower, it ran .2 slower at the track as well... I also lost 3mph in my traps. We put it in my friends hybrid and it made a big difference for the better. I guess it just depends on the ECU and the setup you are using it with.

Adjustable cam gears would help too at the dyno.

Remember even after tuned, CTR cams will probably "only" give you around 8hp, really not too noticeable unless you have a sensitive butt dyno, hehe.

But def tune them. I got a friend who replaced the stock b16s with ITRs, they advanced intake cam +2, set the ignition timing back -1 degree (putting it overall at 17), and the exhaust at -2.5, which bumped the motor 8hp and 5tq with chipped all motor p28.

Not too bad IMO

well, i heard to advance the intake 4* and retard the ex 1* has yeilded the best results. As far as the tune goes we have a custom chip that ISNT in yet. So we'll see, but as of now the CTR/ITR cam has a tad too much hype IMO

Too much hype? What the heck did you pay for it? Last time I checked CTR/ITR cams were extremely cheap. Heck I sold both of mine for $350, let alone just an intake cam. If you get 5hp from it its a freaking steal if you ask me let alone anything higher.

Apparently you haven't been doing it long enough or you would know that a different cam setup than stock has to be tuned since it will of course have different air/fuel requirements. I guess people that slap in Jun III's should have instant power everytime without tuning . If not JUN III's must suck and are over hyped right?

And apparently you have been doing it for far TOO long if you think $350 for a whopping 5who is a good buy. Go hang out on the domestic boards for a while. You will see how much of a rip off import **** really is. $350 for 5whp is FAR from a "deal".

I am a car enthusiast, not a hater. I own a domestic. Whats wrong with that? I am serious though. Import **** is a total rip for what you get in gains. Check it out sometime, if your not to close minded.

Every set up yields different results and has different timing settings. Hence why it is good to take your own set up to a dyno and have it tuned, rather than what other people are running.

But then again, you've got to think that stock TR's have stiffer springs in the head. Sure they cost $100 or whatever, but compared to the price tag on skunks or todas or juns, you really can't go wrong with CTR/ITRs.

Just my 2 cents.

I bought my Skunk2's used from a friend for $450 for the whole set. In my opinion, these stage 1's make a LOT more of a difference over the CTR's. The odd thing is that we measured the primary lobes on both the Skunks and the CTR's, and the Skunk lobes were actually smaller.. Interesting.

I have nothing against domestics. But its like comparing apples to oranges (big block v8s vs 4 cylinders (in most cases).

Personally, I like imports because everyone around here always had camaros and mustangs, kind of boring having the same type of car everywhere you look. Don't get me wrong there are some sweet ones out there I wouldn't mind owning, but its nice to have a little diversity.

And getting into the cost, you can get cheap parts for imports. Im sure there are cheap parts for domestics too. But basically you get what you pay for.

Again, this is just my opinion. Please don't take offense.

used huh? how much are brand new ctr's again?

I believe i saw them on here brand new for $320 shipped.

So what if the lobes are smaller? Check any dyno tuned skunk1's vs tuned ctrs I'll put $10 the skunks will make more power. Why is that?
