Default Type R insurance?

Now i know people have discussed a similar topic like this not too long ago, but when you get insurance for a ITR and it says RS on the paper work and or bill does that meen if your car gets stollen or if anything happens to it do you get screwed on the money situation or do you get the full value of the car like you normally would?

does it say the model is an RS? if thats the case you better get it corrected. your premium is gonna go way up but living in jersey chances of your car getting stolen are high so you wanna make sure they are aware what model u have and make sure they cover it fully.

Ryan, who typed one hell of a run on sentence.

Mine says Integra Type R and I'm in NJ. I wouldn't have it any other way. At least I have the peace of mind that Im' covered. $3,600/yr for Full coverage $100/$300 on the Acura and liability on the 1990 Civic Si. Deductible of $1000..

If you want to get fair market value for your R if it gets wrecked/stolen, it should be insured as an ITR, not an RS.

Yeah, the HYPENESS of the HYPE R puts us in the HIGH PERFORMANCE catagory. Same level as most true V8 sports cars (thats what I was told by my insurance co).

Yup, I'm in the same category as the Corvette as far as my insurance is concerned.

So true. When I got my '00 R last year the insurance premium would have been cheaper to purchase a new 350Z! Same with a Lexus IS300 or WRX. Ridiculous. The rate is determined by how often R owners file claims nationwide (theft, wreck, whatever).

Anyway, it brings something important to mind. I'm getting a 97 Cw R next week and it's "worth" $13-14K blue book. I'm paying several grand more. My fear was if the car gets stolen, I get blue book and I'm out the diff. That would rule! So I called my agent today and told him the exclusivity of the car (318 imported, hand build engine, blah blah) and it's covered basically for what they're selling for on the street and he said to show him what I paid and everything's cool. I would suggest all owners of CW R's do this to prevent any surprises. As we all know, there are some theivin' bastards out there!

RS? How the hell would they pull up an RS? They have to put in the year before the trim. Wasn't the RS trim dropped by 97 or 98? I think LS was the lowest these years.

mine has a declared value on it..
it means what ever happens to the car they will pay me the declared amount no matter what blue book says.

but yes if it says RS then they will base value on a RS when it gets tottaled.
