Default USDM Type-R Head on a USDM GSR Block?

What would be the advantages of doing this? Would I gain any compression? How hard would it be to install? T.I.A.

all i know is that it will bolt right on . and it will have a lower compression than a full type r motor due to the gsr's pistons

I have also heard that you loose something like .3 in compression, can't remember exacly why, something to do with the shape of the combustion chamber or something. I have definitely heard that you would loose compression though. Advantages would be: better cams, lighter and larger valves, stiffer valve springs, and light headwork.

The GSR head has a bigger combustion chamber and therefore will end up with a lower compression ratio.

Correct...the gsr has a smaller combustion chamber. That is why when you put the Type-R head on it will drop the compression by around .3. The type-r has a bigger quench area.

ya ull have to get a new set of pistons cuz compression will drop to 9.5 from the 10.1:1 cr the GSR pistons have on the GSR head.
