Toda Racing Spec N+ Cams
There is NO OTHER INFORMATION OUT ON THESE CAMS, only what we think might happen.
All there is on their site about these cams is their updated techinical note chart.
Here are the 3 charts that Toda has used thus far.
Old 3/17/03, New 12/15/03, Newest 12/16/03
OLD 3/17/03
New 12/15/03
Newest 12/16/03
If you look at the Technical Notes that Toda has written in all 3 of those charts, you will see how they changed. Obviously the fastest change being between the 15th and the 16th, the change happened yesterday, today is the 17th). And these changes happened around the same time members that have posted said they had called and asked Toda questions about their cams.
You can see the differences between the 2 charts (Old one and 2 new ones). Judging by what the new tech notes say the requirements are. There will more then likely be a new engine kit released with the Spec N+ cams that will have all the midrange the Spec A cams had, if not more, but with alot more top end than the Spec A cams had. I think i can make this assumption because if you look at technical note 9, the K20A Intake Manifold is suggested, and we all know that unless you got a cam that can make power up high, the K20A IM is pretty much irrelevant to have. I mean you would not get the K20A IM if you were running stock K20A2 cams. This kit will also retain VTC considering the VTC Killer Cam Pulleys are not required, and they mention nothing about using a pin to regulate the amount of movement on the Intake Cam pulley.
Just wait for Toda to release anymore info on this because up till now THERE IS NO OTHER INFORMATION ON THIS PRODUCT!!!

He said that with the cat cams midrange, you would easliy pull a car length through the midrange against both the itr and toda setups. But I remember Ron sayin that the toda cams did not like the lower vtec engagement point so they stuck with the 5200 crossover.WTF? So how did toda do the complete opposite of ron's findings? Toda claims they are makin like 14whp over the cat cams in the midrange. But I've never seen a comparison of the old toda flash vs the new flash. Is the midrange really that improved?
Anyways, I know my car rocks. The midrange is sickening. Plus the sound is incredible. After the initial crossover, the sound remains static till about 7k then it gets a hell lot more aggressive. I absolutely love it and couldn't be more satisfied. I'd really like to see what these N+ cams would do. Maybe existing toda owners could get a free reflash if they bought the cams?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You guys seem to forget what precipitated the revised Toda program and ultimately the new application. The N+ cams are AKH Trading's specific request to satisfy the US market after seeing results from Spec B and Spec C's. As well as anticpating enthusiasts' rebellion to run them on the street.
Anyway, here's what Spec A cams look like with the two different vtec engagements:
With a Hondata K-pro, I still feel that ITR cams can be tuned within shooting distance of Spec A's. Once the N+ are released, I doubt Spec A's will be offered going forward.
As far as naming convention goes, I think N+ is a marketing term that borrowed a little inspiration from the popular Japanese race series and maybe a little from Speed World Challenge. Here's my theory: N1 is a "one-make" or spec series, right? The original Spec A's were a spec cam (or legally allowed) for Speed World Challenge. The N+ cams have Spec A small lobes but with a revised big cam lobe that may resemble Spec B. The result? you have something that idles like a "spec A" but have a little more ooph which is a "plus" - ergo and voila "N+" .... oh well that's my little take on it. Bottom line, N+ cams are the fruit of AKH Trading's hard work for the US Market. You guys asked for it, now you're going to get it.

So the midrange wasn't really attributed to the CAT cam, it was more ECU tuning.
Back to topic, all this speculation is driving me nuts! I wonder what these N+ camshafts are all about
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuning the K has been a learning experience for sure. VTEC engagement wasn't the only tuning change. VTC cam angle techniques learned from tuning the CAT's helped greatly when revising the Toda program. The interesting thing is that the original Spec A program investigated lower vtec points with not much success. The missing factor and secret to unleashing more power this time around was cam timing.
We recently started preliminary testing for the largest K-series cams to date and they are really promising. They are larger than Spec C's and retain VTC! The small lobes are are almost as big as Type R high cam, but with way more duration. With these monster cams, VTEC engagement is 6500rpm! We ran out of time and have many many more hours of tuning the big lobes before we can publish any results. But I'll give you a teaser. We're making more torque at 3500-4000rpm than ever seen before and its as flat as a table top all the way to redline. The torque curves and its tuning characteristics resemble that of the JRSC.

All you are doing is what? Talking **** over the net, bring to street or track and I'll bust that *** and show you I know my ****. I don't care what TODA brings out, because custom cams for you particular setup will work better than any mass production cams.
And when I say marketing scheme, I mean newbies like yourself, will think because TODA said you need this or that to run their cams that is the spoken WORD. But if you look at the different Tech charts then you will see that keep recommending different things, which you really not have to hav eand then they change their recommendation, all to keep you buying their stuff because they know that K-series owners are hungry for the newest performance parts. Not shift ***** than things of that sort.

All this bitching back and forth, you are contradicting this whole H-T anti-ricer thing by being ricers yourselves. Well maybe not ricers, but stooping down to their level by arguing like little girls. Just chill. Use the IM feature and bitch all you want over that. This thread is full of good info and the arguing just clogs it up and litters it with useless info. I hope a moderator looks at this and just erases this post and the posts that you guys made arguing.

You know what dick head, neither of us will be able to teach each other a lesson on the net, so this back and forth, is a waste of everyone's time.
So what they changed their web....do you think the engineer who designs the parts updated the web site? They have web guys doing that and people make mistakes. Those "changes" you talking about.... the first was there before N+ cams were added....the 2nd said somehting about an N+ engine kit, and now intead of N+ engine kit it says TBA.

Of course there are going to be more "ricers" (and i really hate using that term) over at clubrsx because there's A LOT more RSX members over there then over here at honda-tech. With more members, of course, proportionally, you're going to get more of them. Also, most other Honda/Acura enthusiast are haters. They look down upon the RSX/EP3 because in their mind, "nothing will ever beat the B-series motor, or nothing will ever beat my double wishbone front suspension." And you can't deny it. That's how people still think, even though we all know K-series motors have a lot of potential.
When it comes to RSX technical needs, Clubrsx still cannot be beat! I have said this before and i will say it again, "Clubrsx still cannot be beat!"

Your right, I apologize for arguning with a gay Blade about my opinion, which no one has to like or agree with. So it stops here.

Blade, if your car runs 12's than by all means state your opinions. Most likely it does not, so keep it to yourself. Everyone is on here to learn from educated people, who have done the research.

It's an EG hatch with a B18C5, and it does run 12's.

I meant k-series, considering we are in the DC5/EP3 forum. It isn't hard making a EG run 12's, since it is so light and there are so many parts out for b-series. K is another story...

gotcha
