I'm running 205/50's on the stock itr rims. Does it handle a lot differently with a 195-50 better or worse?

Even the same size tire but different model or brand can handle different. Just depends on the tire.

IMHO Stock wheels gets stock tires (RE010).

But I went with another set of rims (rota 15x6.5) so I could run 205/50-15 and get a better feel.

I don't like 195/50/15. My S-03's tracked horrible around town. They had very bad ride quality also. I believe this is due to the similarly stiff sidewall (compared to the stock tire) and because of the shorter sidewall (97.5mm as opposed to the 107.25mm sidewall on a stock sized 195/55).

Even my 205/50/15 Falken Azenis had a better ride around town than my 195/50 S-03's. I'll NEVER buy 195/50 again. Too small.

205/50 is a great size, and there are a good number of tires in this size and in 195/55.

205/50 RE-010's were specifically made for the NSX. They will wear out VERY quickly on an R, VERY VERY quickly. I wouldn't even try it. There's more info about this in some older threads.

205/50 is an easy size to find. 195/50 are too small

I've tried the AO32R and RA-1s in that size and have been very happy.

I don't own any stock sized wheel.

But if I had any stock sized wheels (15x6), I'd only use 195/55/15s.

To those who have used both 195's and 205's on a stock 15x6 rim, which do you prefer in terms of stability and harder driving? I'm going to need new tires come spring, and Kumho MX's in the 205/50/15 size seem highly praised.

Street, March-December: Bridgestone Potenza RE010, 195/55-15

Street, December-March: Michelin Arctic Alpin, 195/55-15

Track: Currently Yokohama A032R 205/50-15, have Toyo RA-1 205/50-15 for when the Yokos bite the dust (or rubber marbles)

All on stock rims.

I am guessing ITR Factor doesn't live in Deerfield, Florida (because I don't think there is a Deerfield, Florida).

Maybe he lives in Deerfield Beach, Florida, or in Deerfield, Illinois. But only one is near Chris...

It all depends on what I'm doing. At the strip I'll run a sticky set of 195/50's just for the better drive ratio, but for any kind of agressive driving that involves turning the vehicle I use a high performance 205/50.

At least yours did not come with staggered wheels/tires. Stupid 225/245 combo.

I have 225/50/15 (front) and 205/50/15 (rear) tires on my ITR wheels.

Ran 195/50/15 for the first year when I had the R and later switched to 205/50/15. The car handled like crap with the 195/50/15s and it also spun too much.

Handled like crap? Were the 205 and 195's the exact same type of tire? If not there is no reason to post. Also explain how the same width as stock could handle so terrible if you don't mind.

I run 195/50 on stock rims with no negative impact, unless you call a sharper turn in and more direct feel bad I have nothing but praise for them at auto-x as they have done me extremely well. 195/50's also have the benefit of being lighter (less rotational mass) and increase the final drive.
