I've never used the short shifter adaptor before so I can't give you personal feedback on that but I recently installed the forbidden true short shifter into my 4th gen and I think it's awesome.

Judging by your second question, I'm assuming you have a 5th gen Prelude. Forbidden is in the works of making a true short shifter for the 5th gens too I believe. You can PM 4bidden and ask him about it.

Now in response to your second question, the H23's were only offered for the 4th gen Si's. A 1997 SH would have an H22 motor.

There is no true short throw shifter for 5th gens only adapters.
4bidden makes the best short throw shifter for the 4th gen

It installs onto your original stock shifter. When you take off the cable that attaches to your stock shifter, you put the short shifter adapter where the cable would originally connect to. Then you connect the cable to the adapter. Basically it shortens the distance that the cable has to travel when shifting.

I had one myself and do NOT recommend it. You should just wait until 4bidden developes a short shifter for the 5th generation. I am waiting for it myself. Don't waste your money on it.

Really, DAMN! I think I will just be staying stock anyway, until another reputable short shifter like 4bidden's is released for the 5th generation. I wish i didn't waste my money on the adapter. I think neuspeed has a true short shifter for the 5th generation.

there is a knock off on ebay for $15, I would try that if you want one.

Last I heard someone sent him a 5th gen shift assembly but he said he doesnt have the time or initial investment cost to make them but he said he will still try, I think someone else on PreludeOnline.com is trying to make one also.

i think the only short shift kit made for the 5th gen was C's. There was a groupbuy for it like a year ago, but they couldn't find a company to produce them for us, so it got canceled. it really sucked!
