What is "Showa"
I just bought my S2000 and know very little in comparison to my JDM DC2, I noticed that the AJ S2k has Spoon with Showa suspension. Then yesterday when I was looking under my hood, I saw this control unit looking thing next to the battery that said "Showa" on the label. Is this a stock piece? Whats it do?
Thank you in advance!

im not really sure what the box under the hood is (i remember reading about it somewhere though) BUT showa itself is a suspension company from japan that offers oem shock units. for example the s2000 comes stock with showa struts.
most aftermarket coil-overs from japan are also equipped with showa struts, so they're all pretty much the same, the only differnece is the spring rates and brand name.

I believe they make several stock pieces for our Hondas.
My old radiator used to say Showa on the top of the endtank. I think some part of the headlight says it too. I saw a few Showa labels scattered randomly around the car.

If I remember correctly, they also build the dampers for most (if not all) of the Mugen suspension kits.
They also build the damper struts that hold the glass up on the EG hatch!

Yup, Mugen shocks are just revalved Showa shocks with stickers.
I recall that label on a bunch of stuff on my old teg.

Showa does build dampers for Mugen but to Mugen specs. This means bigger shaft rods, different shim stacks, bigger pistons, etc. Showa also makes dampers for F1, CART, FIA rally teams and these are not rebadged stock shocks.
