Tuning Questions?
I drive a 95' black accord lx coupe 5spd. I recently perchased a 93' JDM H22A motor and LSD trany from http://www.streetimports.com/. I have ordered a lot of aftermarket parts for the H22 such as AEM cam gears, underdrive pullys, intake, fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, Venom fuel pump, dc sport headers, tanabe cat back exhaust (accord), centerforce stage 3 clutch, and a clutchmasters 8lb. lightened flywheel. Now the question, the accord is my project car just as much as it is my daily driver, how will the clutch and flywheel affect my daily driving and is driving it too much bad for the parts, bad for trany or bad for the motor?
No in a simple answer. With more power comes the necessity of more upgraded parts to accomodate that power. Like a clutch on a tuned h22 would go like melted butter. Granted it would last a decent time but you wouldn't be extracted all power from your motor. With a lightened flywheel you let the engine not work against itself (it doesn't have to turn a stock flywheel that is 2-3 times heavier) and a clutch will make your driving experience much more pleasing but far from stock. Any miles you put on the car seem like more miles closer to its death, but with regular maintanence and if your not driving it to red line every gear you should be more than ok. Hope this helps
