Default Dumb tire rotation question

I just rotated my RE010's for the 1st time after 3750 miles. Torqued them to 80ft/lbs in the criss-cross pattern as required BUT I forgot to clean off the part where wheel contacts the rotor. Is that step important? If I'm being too **** feel free to throw cyber objects at me.

On a non directional tire, the advantage of going FL to RR and vice versa is to change the direction the tires are used to traveling (wearing).

It's not important unless it was really a ton of dirt there.
[scratching head] I wonder what else you clean on your car, perhaps you clean your firewall, or under your engine, maybe even go as far as clean off the upper heat shield on your cat? are you really that ****?

Torqued the *lugs* in the criss-cross pattern.

Not really that ****. I just read tire rotation procedures on an other website and that's what they said to do. Guess I can't believe everything I read on the internet.

010s are directional though, so that doesn't apply here. Actually, didn't apply at all, since the question was about dirt and crossing was referring to the lugs. haha

I can't say that I have ever cleaned the hub or the back of the rim before reinstalling them. I have never seen a tire shop do it either.

No, you're supposed to do

front tires to rear

rear tires to front

It varies, depending on the car.

The ITR should have tires kept on the same side (left front switched with left rear). This is probably recommended because the RE010 has a direction of rotation.

It has nothing to do with the car. It has everything to do with the tires. Asymetrical tires have an OUT side and a rotation direction, and will usually be noted on the tire.

Yes and no. Yes, it has everything to do with the tires. But if a car comes with rotational tires from the factory, then the factory recommendation will be to keep the tires on the same side of the car. THAT'S why the ITR recommends keeping the tires on the same side of the car when rotating - because it comes with the RE010.

Asymetrical tires have an OUT side and a rotation direction, and will usually be noted on the tire.
The RE010 is rotational but symmetric (NOT asymmetric). The sidewall shows a direction of rotation, but either side can be mounted as the outside.

you can criss-cross the 010's. You just have to dismount them and flip them on the rims. Big fuggin pain in the ***. Not really worth it.
