Default 1-2 shift and massive wheel hop

hey guys, so i was taking off from a light today, not launching or anything, and i shifted hard before redline, i expected to hear a chirp but all i ended up with was massive wheel hop. i remember hearing that wheel hop isn't very good, and i know to remedy this would be some bushings etc.

my question is, is this normal for our cars to instead of chirp, just give wheel hop?

ive never really experienced a hop unless i wasnt on full throttle and just shifted quickly and gassed it right after. Chirp isnt necessarily good either, which is a loss of traction. Look into energy suspension mounts or something...

Do you have larger than stock wheels and are you making more power than stock?

Because my car did it all of the time on hard 1-2 shifts with the 17" on it. I have poly bushings in and that helped but I just recently eliminated the problem by installing the Z10 radius arm kit.

nope, my car is all stock right now. i know that a chirp is a sign that im losing traction, but i didnt expect the wheel hop to be so intensive. it was as if i was launching at a drag strip, which i have expereinced a LOT of wheel hop. oh well, i'll just take it easy on my car and see what develops.

My other qwik thought is you might check the tire pressure. I didn't experiance a wheel hop problem when the car was running on the 15s

i know that my friend brian in his 94 hybrid has wheel hop going into 4th GEAR!!!!!! the dash nearly falls into your lap. needless to say the car hauls serious ***. my experience is that it all depends on the tires. i know that if you are running on lets say nitto 450's or something which absolutely suck for traction, the tires are going to spin and not grab the raod. on the other hand, if you have a nice set of sticky tires, wheel hop is definite because the tires are trying stick to the road. i would say that you probably have some decent tires and not to worry about it. make sure that your CD player is secure in the dash

i get wheel hop all the time... my dash feels like its going to fall apart. i also have nitto 555 drag radials. try a differnt tire and see if you get the same reaction.

O..O..O... Tell me more about the ES motor mounts and the Z10 radius arms... It rains a whole bunch out here and the wheel hop in the wet empties my glove box every time ( No dry hop though )

I would love a cure...

it might also be that your tires arent catching or theyre losing traction during the shift..

ed, try not to shift hard or too fast, it's a killer on powertrain (tranny, axles) and basically everything.
