Help with B20 swap into 1990 Civic Wagon
I do not know ANYTHING about these swaps since I just got this car.
I am wanting to put a B20 into the wagon, but I want to keep it as simple as possible.
Can someone please tell me what exactly I need to do this?
I would like to keep the DPFI if possible so I can avoid the wiring problems. But then I'm not sure what ECU I could use to run that on the B20. Are the older B20 preludes DPFI? Could I use a manifold from that if so?
Man I'm ****** clueless on old motors.
Please someone just tell me what I need to do to run a B20 CRV motor properly in my 1990 wagon. Thanks

It's 2wd.
If I MUST use MPFI to have the B20, then I guess I will. It shouldn't be that hard. I was just hoping that maybe there was a manifold from another B series engine that is DPFI.. but I guess not.
Can anyone tell me what ECU/harness/etc that I will need to this?
I'll need to convert to an OBD1 ecu correct? Or could i use an OBD0 B20 ecu? -clueless-

don't konw of any b series with dpfi. convert your harness and run the right computer on it, you'll be happier in the end. you'll also need 88-91 4wd wagon axles, with 90-93 teg stubshaft. the rest is just buying swap mounts.
You would treat the swap like most other B series EF swaps. You will need a mount kit (HASport, HCP, etc.) a B series cable tranny or a hydro tranny with the new HASport EF hydro kit.
You will have to go MPFI if you go with a B series, as there is no DPFI B series. To make it easier, just stick to OBD0 and use a 90-91 Integra PR4 ECU + distributor then some OBD0 injectors and resistor box. You MUST use the stock DPFI harness and rewire it to MPFI, the MPFI engine harness will not work with your chassis.

Thanks for the reply.
So if I use the PR4 ecu, is this going to be sufficient for the B20? I would like to take advantage of all the B20's power. Perhaps I can buy a OBD1 conversion harness and run the prelude b20 ecu?

the b20 in the prelude is completely different than the cr-v b20b/z. don't think that you will be able to put a b20 prelude motor in your civic, not do-able without spending gobs of money on custom everything, and definitely not worth it.

I know, I don't want to use the prelude B20. I will only use the CRV.
But what I was asking is.. can I use the OBD1 prelude B20 ECU with B20 CRV swap?

you technically could... but it'd prolly run like ***. If you are stuck on going to obd-1 then just get a p74 or p75, or even a obd-1 pr4 which i believe were from a 91-92 DA. I believe a majority of people run LS ecu's when going to a b20.
you can get a chip for the obd1 ls ecu that will make the air/fuel curves better for your 2.0 displacement, or you could use an SAFC or VAFC for that. your best bet would be to have it professionally tuned though.
also, i don't think a standard b-series in EF mount kit will work for you.

really? Why do you say that?
thanks for the help. I'll probably just run a chipped OBD1 then..
