I need some opinions on why my motor locked up.
I'll try to make this as short as possible, so here goes. I bought my 90 Si last Monday(yes one week ago). It has 197,000 miles and I test drove it and it drove great. It has the B21 motor with a 5 speed and I noticed it does burn alittle oil. As most older hondas I've noticed. I had the oil changed the day after I bought it to be safe. Anyway last night I was getting on it in 3rd gear and when I hit about 5-5,500 rpm the oil pressure light came on and I immediately let off the gas. It started knocking real bad but I was on a two lane highway in the country so I didn't have anywhere to pull over. I tried to baby it to a farmhouse just a few hundred yards up the road but the motor made some loud knocking noises then just totally died. Basically my mom towed it to some old timers backyard shop. (i have heard he is a good mechanic) I am very knowledgable when it comes to cars and I was just wanting some thoughts on it. I think a rod shot through the block. It still had oil in it and when try to start it the starter just clicks. Basically cause the motor can't turn over I guess. Should I just find another B20/B21 motor and drop in it? Also I've heard you can make a B20/B21 into a VTEC by getting a VTEC head, computer, etc. Will that work? I can only spend at most $1000. Any info would be great. I love that car and I don't want to see it in the junkyard. By the way, this is the first time I've been on honda-tech and I love it. Great forum.
you think a rod shot through the block?
is there a hole in it?
good luck fixing it under 1k if you don't
do your own work

not necessarily through the block. just sayin usually when a motor starts knocking and then dies and won't even turn over it's usually a broken connecting rod. i think that happened for the simple fact of the high rpm on a worn out motor just broke a rod.
one of my friend's had a motor put in his toyota tercel by some guy he knows for like 6 or 7 hundred dollars. he just swapped motors with another one. so i figure he could do the same for my poor honda.

i'll call adrenaline see if he'll hook me up. i hope he's not too expensive. i've only bought a muffler from his place and that was years ago. speaking of adrenaline i heard from a few people he bought his girl an R-34 Skyline.
