Default autocross and road racing

i am currently in search of wheels and tires. lilke the way my car drives on these Dunlop SP8000s i have bu ti need something with a little more grip. i am planning to start roadracing soon i was wondering if anyone who does this would post their wheel size and tires they use, it seems that BFG gforce t/1 KD are only available in 17 inch sizes, i dont think the car will handle good on 17 wheels, should i stay with the 15 wheels or go to 16?

Basically, your CRX isn't eligible for the STS class in autocross. It's either ES, or if it's modded at all, at least to CSP, if it's got weight reduction (fiberglass/cf hoods) it's in prepared). Stock class, you have to run the 14" stock wheel. If you're in either CSP or EP (my fav class ), you want to run a 13" wheel...13"x8" or 9" for CSP, and 13"x7" for EP. CSP tire choice would be hoosier autocrossers, bias ply, 225x45x13 . EP, you want a 20" cantilevered racing slick.

Road racing, if you're doing IT (ITA for your car) you'd be running a 13" rim again, I think 13x6 though, hoosier road race compound tires.

Hope that helps....all depends on how competitive you want the car to be (which is not worth as much as a competitive driver...and no, if you haven't raced before, will u be very competitive at first...rule of thumb ) also depends on your budget.

Cool stuff. I chose EP cuz of the weight (mine's at 1610lb) and the 7" rims give a bit more bite.

Road racing....are you trying to do IT racing, or just road racing in general, and do you desire slicks, R-compounds, or sticky streets?

did i say DP i meant DM , i have to run that cause of the motor, it automatically placesu in modified but i am not really trying to be competitive in my class, cause there is no way a crx will be competitive in a DM , this car wasnt built for autoxing or road racing, my intensions are still to keep a street legal car so i can DRIVE to atoxes and not tow and also a road racing. i will have to do a few changes before i go road racing. but other then that it will eb pretty much the same. i am most likely getting another crx, stock , for daily driving or a S10 truck

Boo...bad attitude Mike Ancas runs in Dmod, he's the guy the wrote the Honda/Acura Performance Handbook http://www.hondabook.com His 85 CRX SI (like mine) runs very well, still street legal, turbo, etc I drive my EP car to events. Not a fun street car, but it does get to the event. I swap tires to my R-compounds once I get there.
