Is my girlfriend imagining the noise?
Hello Honda people, I'm visiting from ClubB5 (the Passat forum, please no flames) with a question for my gf who drives a 97 Accord LX with 115,000 good miles on it. She claims to hear a high-pitched rattling sound from the front-center to right part of the car, "like a rattling paper clip," she says. It only happens when driving on the highway and disappears when she presses the brakes and sometimes returns when she releases the brake and sometimes not. I thought it was a brake/rotor issue until she mentioned the rattling isn't rhythmic (???) Of course when I test drove the car I wasn't able to hear anything.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on what you think might be causing this rattling sound.

it sounds like it is your e-clip. that is a clip that stabalizes your brake pad in place..if its loose it will rattle til you step on the brake. and it makes a tamborine type sound when your hit bumps...
i had the same problem on my car, and it was a brakes issue. found it out the hard way after i tookapart my strut assembly and found nothing worng :\ haha oh well
i would get those brakes checked out take it to midas or something =] good luck!
