Default optima yellowtop battery fitment issue (applies to other optimas too)

hey there everyone. i was wondering if anyone uses an optima battery in their teg and how they got it to fit nicely. i had to hammer this lip that came off of the firewall, and disconnect a plug that went into the firewall as well. right now, the battery doesn't sit well or properly, but i'm not driving it around like this either. so i was hoping some of you had an optima installed and was willing to help solve my problem. thanks.

Optima has batteries specially made for the Honda/Acura specifications. All it is is just the same power a regular Optima battery, yet compact to fit in our cars. The battery is kinda expensive, but if you are willing to pay for such a battery, imo you should go with the lightweight race batteries instead. Saves you some weight, yet still have a strong charge to crank your motor.

I have an Optima Blue Top in my DA. Fits perfectly fine. It could be that you bought a battery that's not made for Honda/Acura. Is your teg a DC2? Telling us the gen of your teg will help us help you a lil more.

I have a dc2 with a red top optima. It wouldn't fit in the engine bay so I put it in my trunk along with my system. Although thats not the best idea (adding weight to the rear) I didn't really have any other places to put it.

Get the optima that fits the DC2 or get the SVR battery that fits our cars

As mentioned, they make the specific applications for Honda/Acura...

but, i though the Yellow top wasn't meant for a primary battery ? I thought the Yellow tops were to act as a "deep cycle" battery. In other words, just a secondary battery to power lights, sound system, winch, etc. Not to start the car.

the yellow top is more powerful than the red, it's more than enough to crank the car and also run systems, etc. It can also be run for extended periods before losing charge, and can be charged right back up (hence the deep-cycle terminology).

They fit DA's fine because the battery is up near the front of the car like most other cars. I like the battery location on Civics and DC Integras because the weight is closer to the center of the car, behind the front wheels. Unfortunately it requires a smaller battery to fit the space.

I had a Red Top installed in the trunk of my old car, and I would have put it under the hood of my Integra, but it wouldn't fit, and I didn't want to put it in the trunk of this car, so I just sold the whole custom trunk-mount kit that I made along w/ the battery for $175.

i have a 94 integra... ok, so right now, the battery is sitting in the battery location... however, it's very very tight, and there is nothing holding it in place besides the firewall and the wall on the opposite side. i don't think i'll be able to use the battery tie down... anyway, i think i'll figure out something to make this battery fit. i used this battery in my 97 200sx and when i sold the car, i took the battery out. and today when i was at knechts (spelling?), I saw a skinnier yellowtop optima battery that looked like it would have fit. but i don't wanna shell out another $100+ for a battery i already have. i'll just try to modify this one to fit, and when i figure out something, i'll post some pix to show y'all what i did. thanks for the input guys.
