i have a transmission question which no one has been able to answer...basically i did a complete bearing change . all roller type etc. on my s20 manual trans. i shimmed the diff. i measured the main and countershaft. all gears had no show of wear on the any of the gears. except reverse of coarse, and everything went back on and together just fine. i have taken it apart another 5 times to figure out whats going on... basically first gear has that "reverse sound" the whinning sound reverse makes) and theres no loss of power in first gear, no studdering, no hesitation at all. and no other noises from any other gear.. so its first gear specific.. i checked first gear and there is no visable wear, none at all.?? the trans runs smooth and quiet other than first gear...

in all the 5 or so breakdowns, i checked all the bearins which were all smooth. since they were brand new... but still first gear has the whinning sound.....there is no grinding, goes into all gears smooth, and reverse doest grind either... so at this point i am clueless as to what it could be.. thanks for any help you can provide.
