How do you take off a shift boot for 5th gen Prelude??
I'm trying to take off the top piece of the center console so it can be painted. I don't know why it won't come off. If you don't know what I'm talking about its the thing that is going around the shift boot.
Well, then how would I change my shift boot? My interior is getting proffesionally painted. but if I were to leave it black then I still want to change my shift boot so it can be blue.
Ehhh.... i dont know that would be to clashy, i think a black boot with blue stitching similar to type R style would look nice. Go to http://www.redlinegoods.com
And tell them bolivianfuego from prelude online told ya about their prelude shift boots. They could prolly give you a discount form their prices on their site.

look for the screws. under the AC, and under the compartment on the center console. a pair by the shift boot on the plastic by the seats. unscrew them all, take off your shift ****, unplug the little light for the change tray, and remove. unscrew the shift boot bracket, take it out with shiftboot attached, remove staples.
You remove the ten screws that hold the center console down and pull up, turn it over, you will see the 4 screws that hold the shift boot frame on and the other screws that hold the center piece on, the shift boot is stapled to the frame so if you are going to have to remove those to replace the shift boot. Here is a link to a diagram that will give you a better 'picture' of how everything is constructed on the console.
