The bore is 84mm right, and the head diameter where it meets the block is 81mm. This is the same if you put any other B series head on it. Should the edge be smoothed out and rounded over so there isn't a sharp lip? I would think it would be less prone to detonation by doing this. Or is this a waste of time and totally worthless?

It's not a waste of time...have the machine shop open it up to the 84mm bore. Shouldn't be too hard.
