Tire recommendations?
Hi guys, im seraching for LONG LASTING tires performance tires for under $400 for a set. I currently have Yokohama AVS es-100's but they lasted me only 9k miles...with 280 treadware rating. My previous Parada Spec-2's lasted me 6k miles...
In other words, anything that is not Yokohama. Thanks

I would also question him on his driving style? Lots of burnouts???

check your toe and the camber angle.
one place screwed up my toe and i was wearing out tires at the same rate as you were. now that it's close to spec my falken azenis sports look like they make get 10k miles out of them.

Maybe. I'll give him this much, though, that the yoko series of treadwear ratings are on the optimistic side of the scale. However, I've never ( in the 4 sets of yoko street tires that I've run on my prelude) had any set last less than 20,000 miles, and my cas has been lowered since day 1. The only premature wear I've ever gotten was when my car was 1. un-aligned/mis-aligned, or 2. I made the concession to go with a more agressive alignment setup in order to reap dividends on track -- and even then, I"m getting a good 15,000 miles of use.

EHhhhhhh OBVIOUSLY WRONG
On my previous 6k miles parada spec-2's, i complained and recieved 75% off my next tires (AVS ES-100's) because it was expected to last 20k miles. My alignment is perfect, and the wear is even, no burnouts ever. I don't drive my car hard. I'm going to call Yokohama for the same deal because 9k is just bs for 280 treadware.

Well if you alignment is perfect and your toe is set then there should be no reason for them to ware at all..... I have a set of Azenis on my hatch that i drive everyday and they have about 8k on them and they look fine ! there has got to be something, making the tire ware out prematurly. When was the last time you had a professional look at your car, in regards to the alighment, balance etc ?

yeah it's gotta be something. es100's aren't the longest lasting tire but 9k on a set is ridiculous.

Just checked my receipt for my set of avs es 100's. Purchased at: 108,000 miles. Current Mileage: 127,000 miles. Do the math. And, you can
yourself.
yourself.
Whats up. Definitely check your camber. I had Yokahama Parrada Spec-2s on my 18s (215/40) and they lasted 11K miles and still had a good amount of tread. I ended up replacing them after I jumped a curb and got the Kuhmo Ecsta MXs (mainly because the Parrada's wet traction sucks!)
I've heard nothig but good things about the Yokahama AVS ES-100s tho.
Try Kuhmos.

Sorry for slow reply, im currently in Hong Kong.
Anyways, i had the tires rotated at round 5k miles... Now my front tires are bald at 9k. The rears have about 20% or less left. I brought it into the shop to evaluate (American Tire Company) and the guy basically told me it was evenly worn, but it lasted only "9k" miles because they were Z rated tires, and which they were ultra high performance. He basically told me to get an H rated tire if i wanted something to last longer... but anyways thanks for reply i'm going to call yokohama and complain like last time... because i think its just premature tire ware...

yeah, he just wants to keep from having to give you a set of new tires. when i had my 300zx i had kumho ecstas put on it, and i had goodyear do my alignment. they totally screwed things up and i ate up those tires in 8,000 miles. when i got new tires i had it realigned and they said the alignment was way off, that's why i ate my tires so fast. never trust goodyear in mission viejo, they have no clue what they're doing. that's probably why they're shut down.
on another note, my mechanic recommended getting yokohamas to me. i said something about kumhos and he said the yoko's were better. just need to save for a set.

My Azenis sports have 14k miles, full season of autox in several regions, hard street driving and a 2.25" drop with no camber kits, not one burnout and they are now only starting to get really low. The Yokes should last a lot longer than the Azenis, regardless of the speed rating. Mine were $69 shipped from tires.com and are the best dry/damp performance street tires you can get for the money, bar none.
I figured since they are so cheap, wear so quickly and I'm so hard on em, replacing them once a year is no problem.
btw, I've drivin to school a few times in the snow the past few days on the worn Azenis.. not fun. I've already lightly hit a curb, came about 2 feet from smackin a van and can only go about 4 mph and still spin em in 5th gear. It's really really fun in big parking lots though.
