is 90-93 teg special edition a GSR?
hey guys, theres a teg special edition, the kind with the leather seats by me and i was wondering if those are gsr's. i looked and the redline looked to be around 7k... i thought that would be kinda low. i dont know much about integra's b/c i only know anything about ef hatch/crx. thanks guys
nope, the special edition is powered by a b18a. essentially a GS with special badges and painted wheels. b18a redline is 6700rpm.
gsr interior only came in charcoal black soft cloth with red pin striping, and redline is like 8000 or 7800 can't remember i don't really look at the tach numbers when i rev that high just look for the color red to shift.
the special edition is an LS with a little extra.... leather seats, spoiler, alloy wheels, and painted moldings. they ls-s had one extra color a dark forest green (dont know the name of it)
the gs-r has a 1.7 vtec motor, comes with spoiler, alloy wheels, painted moldings, and leather is optional

the canucks have black gissers.
and i think the leather seats are the same in the gs-r as in the gs or se. the only difference in cloth seats between the models is the patterns and colors. the ls and rs don't have adjustable side-bolsters either.

i haven't sat in the leather seats but maybe the only difference is the lumbar supports. the gsr adjusts to your width and can squeeze your love handles.

Wow there are a LOT of discrepencies in this thread.
ok, b18as redline at 6500. All years.
The LS-S had painted mirrors and door handles (as did the GS)
The g2 gsr had pin striped interior as an OPTION, as with the pinstriping on the exterior of the ls-s.
Also: The b17 redline is at 8k.

the redline on the b18a starts just after 6500 rpm, the actual mechanical redline is 6700rpm.
all 90-91 integra's had black mirrors, ls and gs had painted door handles.
but, the LS-S is still essentially a gs. it is closer in relation to a gs than an ls.
the "pin-striped" cloth seats in the gs-r were standard, they were to differentiate the gs-r from all other integras with charcoal interior.
so, technically, you didn't solve every problem and you didn't answer the original question. which has already been answered.

the gs and gs-r always had that option, whether cloth or leather seating. adjustable side bolstering. the rs and ls didn't.

Just to add my .02 cents. Some quick differences between a 2G LS Special and a GSR.
GSR's have body-color moldings, LS-s do not.
GSR's have complimentary color interior panels, LS-S's have contrasting color interior panels. Ex, Black w/ tan vs. black w/ gray.
And GSR'S have the 3rd brake light mounted IN the spoiler with NO holes visible in the hatch glass.
LS-S's have the 3rd brake light IN the hatch GLASS.

From what I understand, an LS-S is a hybrid of LS and GSR options w/o the VTEC engine option. And the LS-S package predates the GSR. The LS-S started with the 1G tegs and the 1st GSR wasn't until the spring of 1992, The last 2 years of the 2G tegs.

maybe he got screwed. the gs-r had red striping, the gs with charcoal seats had gray striping. things can be replaced after 10 years.

</TD></TR></TABLE>According to some honda book I read a while ago, the first LS-S was sold in 1988. It's been offered, off and on since then.
Sorta like the way honda stopped selling the TypeR and then started again.
The thing that makes a GSR a real GSR though,. IS the VTEC engine.
No VTEC from the factory NO GSR nameplate. Or price tag. LOL
