Default ATTN: Need help from anyone that works at a dealership.

Ok, here is my situation.

I am in the last month of a 3-year lease on my 01 ITR. I'd like to figure out how much it is going to cost me to keep the car.

Is the residual value solely calculated using this formula:

MSRP minus Down payment + Total of all monthly payments = Residual value?

If you can take five minutes to help me, drop me a PM. I'd rather not put the price of my car on public display.

I called the dealer already and they're going to give me a figure on Monday. I want to know in advance whether or not it is fair.

I think I need to wash the car in order to get it painted...so I think I'm gonna have to wash it.

You're forgetting about interest... a lot of the money you paid was for interest, so the residual is going to be a LOT higher than just the initial cost minus the payments and down payment. It should be printed clearly in your lease what the lease-end buyout cost is, and if the dealer has ANY integrity, that's the figure they'll quote you (plus tax and fees).

I'll just add that there is NO WAY anyone can know your lease end buyout without seeing your lease contract or knowing what the money factor (finance rate) used in your lease was.

D will win. Ross's car looks like a showcar in comparison.

-Dave, who won the Dirty GS-R contest with 2 years of unwashed hawk blue dust, dirt and rust on his 2000 GS-R.

Dontcha remember in Gran Turismo? If your car is dirty, your car is less aerodynamic! It'll be slower if you don't wash and wax your car.

Ha! I run around with dirty cars in that game with brown/black oil (as opposed to the nice 'green' stuff you get when you get an oil change) and the oil light on..... and I always win!
