Default Cooling plate for the lude

The purpose of a cooling plate is to direct all of the air to the radiator, instead of coming up throught that area and causing turbulence. This also helps people with carbon fiber hoods to keep them from shaking so much at high speeds.

What do you think?

I'd call it more of a radiator shroud, but it is a good thing.

I would consider getting one but as stated above, it would depend on the cost.

lol...yea, I guess you could do that to.

Since you seem to do some racing....do you see a lot of people doing this? Obviously you think its worthwhile if you did a version of it?

It makes sense to keep the air by the radiator. Like the others said, depends on the price tag.

it looks good, it wouldnt be hard to make that, just get a piece of card board, make a template out if it, a sheet of aluminum, trace the template, make a few mount holes, cut, smooth the edges and good to go. or just find someone who makes them

It would be simple to make if the hood latch wasnt there. Go out in your garage and try to make one out of sheet metal and tin snips and let me know how it goes. Already had one person try that.

I'm looking at doing something out of some aluminum, and polishing or anodizing them. I've already started, just wondering what you guys thought about it.

Well i'm in PC watercooling as well, and it has been proven that shrouded radiators are way more efficient, as the air flow is forced through them rather than going around. Therefore i suppose the same can apply to a car radiator.. The rest of engine bay would be kinda hotter though, but with a CAI i don't see a problem there.
As long as the part is very light and holds well i'd be interested.

Not that many really. You see some with a set up like this, and also a few use duct tap to keep the air from going around the radiator. I didn't really see any major drops in coolent temps from it, but it does not hurt that's for sure.

i'd definitely be interested, would want a carbon fiber one, but would settle for aluminum. definitely keep us updated, i'm interested.

I have a guy who's going to try to make one for the 5th Gens, mainly myself though, don't know if he's going to be willing to mass produce them. My order of preference for materials is as follows.
1. Carbon fiber
2. Plastic (semi-thick)
3. Aluminum
