Should I run wheel spacers? Help Please.
I have a 1" Eibach Prokit drop and 16x7 +45 Rota Slipstreams with 225/45 Yoko AVS ES 100s on my EP3. When I purchased the wheels I wasn't too familiar with wheel offsets and went with what the rep. at machiii recommended (+45).
I read B18CXr's post where he said he rubs the fuel filler line with his +40 offset 15x7 Konigs with 225/50 AVS ES 100s. If he's rubbing with this setup, then I MUST be rubbing, no? He did add that he "tracks the fugg out" of his car, but with my situation, I'm more likely to rub than him. When I had the wheels and tires installed, we checked for clearance front and back, and there was atleast an inch of clearance all around. However, I do autocross my car a few times a year and drive spritedly....does this mean I should look into wheel spacers?
This way I could avoid rubbing even further by moving the wheel out, and get a wider track to boot. I was thinking of just getting the H&R 5mm spacers, but read that its not advisable to run spacers. All you guys who track your EP3s with different wheels and tires please chime in. Thanks.

If you're personally not rubbing, then there's no need to get wheel spacers. But it seems like you made up your mind already, so go get them. As far as H&R making 5mm wheel spacers for the EP3, do they? I know they haven't came out with a 5mm kit for the RSX yet.
I just picked up some universal 5mm wheel spacers the other day because i was rubbing the inner wheel well on my Type S with a 45 offset 7.5" width wheels and size 225/45/17 tires. I would in no way track my car with these spacers on, cause they're just cheap and they don't fit very well, but you shouldn't have a problem with a better quality 5mm spacer.
Just for referrence on my Type S. With a 45 offset wheel, rotas, and 5mm spacers, i got 8 full turns on the front lug nuts and 6-6.5 full turns on my rear lug nuts. Good luck.
Edit: For grammar.

I am not 100% sure, but I heard it's not good to put spacer becasue the wheel nuts wouldnt hold on that good. The reason is that the nut need certain distance of travel on the stud to hold 100 ft lbs of torq. I may be wrong...... The better way to avoid rubbing is putting on better spring or coilover....
well on kingmotorsports website, there's a 4x100 5mm spacer for civics. I'm assuming this will work on the EP3 as well.

That's not true. If it's a good quality spacer that's only 5mm thick, there should be no problem using it with stock studs, as long as you have the "proper" amount of turns on the lug nut. Where did you get 100lb-ft. of torque from? Most, if not all, hondas torque their lug nuts at 80lb-ft.

If the center bore is the same, then it should fit because H&R spacers have a hubcentric lip on the spacer that centers the wheel onto the spacer and the spacer onto the hub.

Hmm, so then I assume I don't have to use my hubcentric rings? I am just worried since I read that it will put undue stress on the spindles and that it is unsafe to use on stock studs for length reasons.

With the proper spacer, that's only 5mm thick, i can't see it placing an extreme amount of extra stress on the axle or suspension components. (Those thicker wheel spacers will surely place extra stress on the suspension components including axle.)

I thought you can't use hubcentric rings on Rotas anyways because they don't have a lip on the back of them that will fit perfectly onto a hubcentric ring.

I was running 16x7.5" +43 offset wheels with wide 215/45/16 Azenis on them and I wasn't rubbing anywhere, and my car was setting pretty low.
Just drive the car and if you rub, then get some spacers. You might not need them.

well I am new to all of this, so what does rubbing sound like? I have since then taken off the Rotas and Yokos because of the winter, but I never heard any funny noises or behavior with them on. I was just nervous since Jack was rubbing with a smaller diameter wheel/tire combo.
