Default Thermostat and cooling question(s)....

Ok, to start off, i'm not sure what thermostat and thermo switch the previous owner installed in my car (Integra GS with JDM SIR-G B18C) but i do know it has a spoon radiator cap lol. he had mentioned a mugen thermostat but i'm not sure about the thermo switch and he hasn't gotten back to me yet. well, here is what the car does...tonight which was very cold, the car at idle for a while went up to one line before the middle mark on the temp gauge then with the heat on it dropped back another line closer to cold. after driving for a while, it was on the line for cold or just a hair above it while driving and the heat was on and working pretty well. i also notice that the car never goes up to the line before half way on the gauge unless it is at idle for a while in traffic and whatnot, it usually runs b/t the first and second markings on the gauge after cold. the other thing, since i have owned the car, the fan has never turned on for some reason...but again, the car never goes above a line before half way on the gauge. i'm a bit confused as to what's going on and could use some advice on what steps to take if this is a problem. i would assume, a new thermo switch, thermostat and new collant (i just changed collant a few days ago though) would be a good first step but what about the fan? it never turns on, can someone let me know what wires should be running to the fan...also, my car has the main radiator fan removed (by previous owner) and the small a/c fan is the only one left in the car acting as the radiator fan (a/c and ps are removed from the car also) but i'm not sure it is wired correctly since it never goes on (or this could be due to the temp never rising very high). sorry this may be a bit confusing but i'm trying to word it as best as possible and give all the info i can. Any help would be great and if any further info on the car is needed, just let me know and i'll explain it or it's actions as best as possible. thanks guys!

i would get a volt meter or something that will tell you if you have power comming from the plugs first just found my old one helps out alot, and the thermoswitch turns on yoru fan so either the switch is bad or the wire is wrong.

I have a all aluminum radiator and mine runs similar to yours. It's never gone above the half way mark and most of the time it runs very close to the 'C" Your fan should turn on though if you're in stop and go traffic for a while and it's running like 1/3 of the way up.

Kinda sounds like the thermostat is stuck open too me.

Too much cooling is a bad thing, I would change the thermostat one way or another.

ok, i tested the fan by unplugging the thermo switch and jumping the wires and the fan turns on no problem. i think i need to do a thermostat and thermo switch so that's the next step and all should be good. might as well do a water temp gauge while everything is appart and fluid is out. thanks for the help guys.
