my b17a 1990 Std. hatch is sagging low in the front on stock shocks and springs. it's definitely a budget racer, so no Tein coilovers will be put on it, but I do want to upgrade from stock. i'm scared to buy springs for it since they are manufactured for 88-91 civics with stock motors in them. my b series swap makes my front end a good bit heavier than with the stock motor. how to resolve this issue? are there any springs I can get for my EF that have spring rates up front made for a b series swap in this chassis?
also, recommendations on shocks?

Your car sags becuse it has blown shocks and the 13 year old spings arnt helping out much either. Anything you get is probley going to be 200% better then what you have right now.
BTW I am selling my Tein HA's with Upper pillow ball mounts and rear lower ITR LCA's

i have a set of tein springs that are rated for the b series swap in 91 civic and crx .
here`s the info on them ....S-tech soft model ef8/ef9 part#skho8-s1boo. i ran them on my car for 2 months then i found some pro-kits for my car . they are mint . IM me and i`ll shoot you a cheap price shipped .

Progress also makes a set of springs specifically for swapped cars, though it's not going to matter, anything will be an improvement and you should not have any problems after upgrading to an aftermarket setup.
If your on a budget get 92-95 front struts and forks, they are alot stiffer, and will hold up your front end better, and buy some cheap coilovers made for the Integra. I have this setup on my 4 door (even though no swap), and it made a great improvement on handling.

Actually the Bseries are not that much heavier, if you find a deal on some shocks and springs for that year civic you'll be ok w/ the standard spring rates for that car.

Just an idea,
Read somewhere about using about the same year model Accord front springs????? Longer travel? Stiffer spring rate maybe????
Or maybe some off an Integra... Interga is heavier by a few hundred lbs...

FYI: The springs hold UP the car, not the shocks. Yes the shocks are gas-charged.. but it is the springs that hold up the car. Shocks dampen the up and down motion of the springs. Gas in shock is to keep shock fluid from foaming.

Yea, I have the same problem in my B16 swapped CRX. I have both Integra and 99 Si springs I am looking to compare then install to fix the sag. If you go w/aftermarket springs it WILL SIT TOO LOW. I know from experience.

I don't fully understand your post as to what eactly it is regarding. If your concern is that you don't like how low the vehicle sits I highly suggest you try out a set of H&R OE Sport springs. A set of aftermarket springs will usually sit less than a 1/4" lower with a B16 vs. a D series, and the increased spring rates will handle the movement much better.

I would like stiffer front end springs without lowering my car lower then it sits with the B20 in it.... But I cant seem to find anyone who sells springs that are stock ride height and are stiffer...
