I have a 89 CRX Si more or less stock (D16a6) the car runs great but the mileage sucks and it will eat up a new rotor in about 2-3,000 miles. I checked the shaft for free-play, everything seems to be ok. But when the car is warmming up you can hear the rotor hitting the dist. posts inside the cap. the newest rotor I installed is carving its way through the top of the dist. cap.
If anyone has any ideas let me kwow

 

just get a new distributor

 

Hey make sure you are getting the right cap and rotor. That problem is just wayyyy off line... double check the dist. to make sure it is the right one for the car. I've put the wrong rotor and cap on before and they would kind of get f'd up but eating through the top of the cap????? Is the distributor shaft bent?

 

You should investigate with a buddys parts to see if you have the right ones. see if yours are the same.
