91 Si, the car is starting - but right when it turns on, it just shuts right off again. No CEL's, anyone have any ideas?

 

even if you give it gas? when did this start? does it run good when it is running? battery in good condition? alternator? how long does it run for? ever change the fuel filter?

 

my 90 crx si does that every once and a while also and I have no clue whats wrong. I just let it sit for a few min then start it and give it gas right away and it seems to be ok then. But its still weird....

 

yep sorry, meant to add if I give it gas right away it runs perfectly fine. Maybe idle is dropping too low and shutting the car off? It started yesterday (the cold weather maybe has something to do with it ?) And I'm unsure of when the fuel filter was last changed, maybe I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning and let you guys know

 

well i just bought a hb today and the guy said it wasn't running and he gave the same description your giving. i filled it up with gas and fired it right up. you got gas in the car? might be a really stupid question but it worked for me today.

 

Could be fuel pump or main relay also. Distributor Ignitor or coil..

 

Mine is doing the same thing. I found out it was the igntion switch on mine.

Sounds like its firing, let go of key, shuts off, gauge lights would go off.... I found out its the ignition because when that happened I touched the key forward about 1mm and the gauge lights came on again and it would start.... This would happen up to 6 or 7 times and then it would finally stay running.
