Default 18x7.5" Toxxins on a '99 Civic EX???

Yes, a set of 18x7.5" Koing Toxxin's can be put on the 1999 Civic EX with no fuss, but can it be lowered? My problem is that I can lower it, but I've been told I have to remove the inner fender well (plastic cover) and roll the fender wells in. Is this true? The car is my wife's (until I perform a whole bunch of mods!) and I just purchased a Greddy G14 turbo kit for it and wanted to improve on the handling. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't advise going higher than 17's on a civic since there will be a lot of rubbing already. Sure you will have excellent grip but it's not really practical. You definitely will have to take the fender plastic cover and roll your wells in order to make them tuck in. I would advise 17's as the biggest size, I found that you get the best of both worlds with 16's.

18's aren't going to improve handling on a Civic. If you lower it any, it'll just rub. I don't see the reason to go to 18's at all... Optimum I would say is a lightweight 16 or 15 with a good set of tires. I'm starting to dislike how ultra large wheels look on a small car like a civic. IMHO of course...

I'm with you all the way jimbob. I only like big wheels on SUV's. Now an Escalade rolling on dubs plus 2, that's niiiiiice.
