Depends...were you racing w/ passing allowed in corners or were you participating in a driver's event where passing is strictly regulated? If the former, you're screwed. If the latter, then hearsay claims insurance should cover any damages.

Call you agent and tell him what your doing before you go. Most insurance Cos will cover driving events, but not racing. If the deny you have them show the exclusion clause, chances are they can't

Here in BC, the insurance company won't cover anything that involves racing/speed testing regardless of it being timed or not. Nor will it cover any damage arising from driving your car at a performance driving school.

I'll have to check to be sure, but I think driver training track or otherwise would have insurance in British Coulmbia... the regs are not spelled any more detailed than " race or speed test ", and drivers training is neither. Not to worry, Soon in B.C. you will be able to buy your insurance from who ever you please... too bad...

My ITR costs about $55.00 a year more to insure than a GSR...

I doubt private will cut me that deal...

If the event is a drivers school then your insurance will cover the damage....However, if it happens they might drop you and you'll have to get another insurance company/or they will not cover you again if you get into another crash. That's what I have seen and heard from people in the drivers schools.

Unfortunately, everyone's advice is true for every state I know of EXCEPT in MA. In our wonderfully over regulated insurance here in Mass, the state decides what the policies are for all car insurance. And they changed that policy a little over a year ago to NOT cover any driving event that takes place off public streets. I know of several people now that have done major damage at autox's and driving schools, and none of them were covered.

NY policies WILL NOT cover any track event. Timed or not timed. AutoX, drag, road, driving school, etc. All are excluded perils, and will not be covered in the event of a loss.

Do the smart thing if you crash on track. Tow the car the hell out of there. Dump it off on some road, and say you smacked it up driving a little "vigorously". You will then have coverage. Otherwise, you're screwed.

Timed event = race = no insurance.

Non timed = event = test and tune or driver ed = insurance.
