Default Went to the Dyno & got my car tuned... Really dissapointed... Please give advice...

Well I finally got my car dyno and tuned by St00pid today and I am beyond dissapointed with my kit... or my setup if that...

I made only 193.02 whp & 143.39 tq

This is my setup:

Setup:

96 JDM ITR Motor Stock 11:1 C/R
Cylinder Pressure check 215 across all 4 cylinders
Used Fmax Kit (Manifold, DP,Turbonetic T3/TEO4B , and FMIC)
Custom 2.25 intercooler piping
Tial WG w/ 7psi spring

Engine & Fuel Management:
Hondata S100B
440cc Saturated Injectors
Walbro 255 lph Fuel Pump
AEM Fuel Rail & FPR
Timing is at 13* advance according to timing gun but ecu read 15* advanced

The car is now tuned and I am EXTREMELY sad and disspointed... I was hoping to make a min of 250 to the wheels

I was told by the Tuner (St00pid aka Jason) That my turbo is too small and that if I want to make 250-300 I need an SC60.

Please help me and make suggestions as to why its so low besides the turbo factor, or is it only the turbo that's causing these low numbers... I spend almost 3k for a turbo kit to make only an extra 35-40 hp...

I don't doubt Jason's tuning capabilities or knowledge of what he is doing, but i'm just not seeing or understanding how the turbo I have on right now is restrcting soo much or as up to 50+ hp diff if I was to switch out...

What bothers me more is I thought th et3/teo4b turbo was a lot better then the ones from teh dreddy kit...

if that is so how come stock gsr w/ a greddy kit bolted on @ 7psi is making 220-250 whp...

I'm stumped... any suggestions would be very helpful...

TIA

Wow, that is really... really... low. That's only a 30whp gain over stock! Something is definitely not right. Does the car feel fast? What kind of dyno was this done on? What's your exhaust/downpipe setup? I've seen people gain over 20whp from 3" exhaust/downpipe, that'll at least count for some.

man dude. i think u should be making way more power than that.... that turbo should be able to flow 7 psi pretty easily....im thinking the tuning is fucked (but i heard st00pid is a good tuner) some how, or maybe there is something wrong with your hardware like the turbo might be messed up some how..

Its not the tune thats for sure. The T3/T04B you have also has a .48AR I am pretty sure. there could be other problems like a bad turbo period. I bet if you took the turbine housing off your turbine wheel is damaged. I bet you its a bad turbo, but not really the size. You could probably make more hp with that turbo, but I bet its bad.

When you have time take the turbine housing off and see what it looks like..

What size downpipe is included in the F-Max kit? I'm curious. I agree with ArTurbo. I think the turbocharger might of went south. Do you not have a boost controller? I would of bought that before the tune and raised the boost until my goals were met.

Weaksauce

I agree with what others are saying, I think you have a bad turbo

Especially with that high of a compression and 7 LBs, you should make well over 220 WHP+

I was there. It also might have been the gas that you were using too. When jason started to add a little more timing it was starting to ping. I am not sure what your final timing ended up being. Also didnt the weld on your egt probe break, or was that when you went on the test drive? I would deffinately go with a bigger turbo.

Something is seriously wrong with that. It's not the turbo size, I've used a much smaller turbo in my GS-R and made more power with less boost. Are you SURE about those compression numbers??

Yep. My buddy is putting down 342whp @ 9100rpm @ 16lbs with a Turbonetic's T3/T04E (larger housing) .48 A/R stage 3 wheel with 9.0:1 - 9.3:1 compression in B18c5.

hrmm i dont think its the trim of the turbo, now art may be right it could be damaged,

but my t3/t04b made 270 on my stock b18b motor at around 10.5~11 psi.

What size exhaust are you running? I'm running a t3/t4b on a b18c1 and I put down 232whp. I am also running a 3 inch exhuast.

wow, that's not good at all. I hope you get the problem fixed. What kind of exhaust are you running and do you have an actual dyno graph that you could show us? But like everyone else said, sound like the turbo went sound, did you do the install or did they?

i did his charge pipes. the fmax has a 2.25 downpipe. i flared it otu to 2.5 an connected to his high flo cat to an apexi n1 exhaust

on my civic even with a 2.25 dp flared to 2.5 i still made 262 whp and 254 torque.

If it was driven with a whack tune for too long it could be clogged. Just an idea.

I always laughed at the tiny fmax downpipe, sounds like you're making them work

My exhaust is a full 2.5" piping all around. I have a hi-flo cat but i think it's now hollowed out because of how rich I was running...

Timing is as 13* all the way advanced forward, Jason could not advance it any further because that's all the distributor could allow. According to the ECU tho it read 15* advanced.

I did the installation myself, and I didn't run into any problems, in regards to the turbine for the turbo being stuck or whatnot, before the installation I checked the turbo to make sure it spins freely and that there's no shaft play well everything was fine, but since i'm a noob I could be wrong...

Jason did say that the turbo could be producing more IF i up the boost, but the result of that would be an unreliable car with detonation and heat.... So his recommendation was to switch out the turbo...

I will be posting the dyno plot in a short while to have you guys examine it...

I dunno i'm just really stumped as to why its so little, I'm hoping that it is true thatthe turbo itself is messed =/ but in either case if I was to switch it out i'd still have to get all this retuned ect...

Just really really dissapointed... Does anyone havea turbo that they want to sell me so i can try it out to see if it's the problem? I am looking to spend no more then 400-500...

I came with the expectation to hit around 270-300 maybe not a realistic number but now i'd be happy if i can even get 220...

Again just to clear things up, I don't doubt Jason's tuning abilities or his knowledge, i'm just hoping someone on this board can spot something that Jason might have overlooked...

Thanks people

Mase, do u remember what your numbers were at 7psi?

Art, the turbine is the one facing twd ths DP right or the other side? I also don;t know exactly the size of my turbo, I was told by jason that its a t3/teo4b .58 trim

And lastly is there any way of checking the turbo without taking it off?

Not that I know of, and if there was Jason would have been able to spot it...

But there is one thing I forgot to mention, I don't know if matters but: I drilled a hole for my egt probe in the 3rd runner before the turbo, and the egt probe is not welded in but sits in the hole snugly, i haven;t had it welded yet, but could that matter too much?

My VERY first pull was like 229whp on 7 psi. modifying the afr/timing curves it was up in the 230's at 7, then we raised the boost

here's a question, why didnt you guys calibrate the dizzy and ecu to read 16degrees btdc?

We turbocharged my buddies b18c5 last year and he put out 249.8whp at 6psi I believe. It could have been 7psi, I can't recall what spring he had though...

Anyways, check what the others have told you to check and get back to us.
