For those who live in South Florida Beware!
Tourists are everywhere, today driving on I-95 south, a New Yorker decided to slam on the brakes at about 80mph to about 20mph in the HOV lane, had no where to go, swerved to the left, if i didn't i would have been history. Car was behind me clipped my back bumper. Grrrrrrr... Just given you So. Floridians a heads up on the morons out there.
I know all about those ******... I live in West Palm Beach and I have to deal with old *** farts all year round. It only makes it worse now in season, there are morons here driving like they were in NY or something.

What exactly qualifies a driver as a driver that drives like he "were in NY or something"

If you give yourself a good space cushion and somebody does something stupid like that, you will have time to stop and have a better chance of not being rear ended too.

Obviously all New Yorkers do not drive bad. Most likely the mass exodus of retirees and other older people are doing their yearly exodus to the South. These guys probably do not drive a lot when they are in NY and do not have learned skills. So, you basically have novice elderly driver NY drivers in the South.
I am actually happy because they are down by you guys and not up here

Yep, this is our peak for us dealerships and bodyshops. Hell, I was t-boned a few years back from guy who was from Massachettes, f##k, I can't spell worth of **** right now, lol
I think down in miami i never see a car doing below 70mph on 95. Of course I have to keep up with traffic
But yeah beware of stupid drivers.

ONLY if the person behind you have given the same space cushion. However, that never happens in Florida. You can actually tell when you leave florida by the driving though. In florida, all lanes are for all traffic to weave through. In NC, SC, TN, etc (the states I drive through after florida the most) most all traffic stays in the right lane unless they are passing. Because of how floridians do NOT do this, it is extremely HARD to provide yourself with proper space around your vehicle because others will constantly move into that space. Just the way it is.

NY drivers suck big time...especially the old ones. i have never seen people tailgate like they do on the GCP, SSP, and the Belt. i avoid driving in the snow, rain and rush hours for these reasons.

Yep, last year when I brought my WRX down I was doing 85 in the slow lane and getting passed like I was standing still...by soccer moms.

It's tough in the DC/NoVA/MD area as well since nobody "knows" what a passing lane is supposed to me.
That and the damn speedlimit is only 55 mph so we have cars side by side sometimes 4-5 wide blocking all the lanes!!
</TD></TR></TABLE>
That happens anywhere. A year ago I was driving on hwy 64, a nice peaceful two lane highway and got stock behind two cars doing exactly 70 mph in a sixty five for at least two miles. It doesn't sound like long but it felt like an eternity. Anyway I was flashing lights and the guy in the passing lane was clueless to my existence behind him. Finally after another 30 secs. I just layed on the horn and he finally realized I wanted to get by. People just don't pay attention any longer!

i really think at a certain age of oldness a whole new line of eyesight and reaction testing should be done. alot of elderly people i see driving are so un aware of what's going on around them it's not even funny.
Dunno how true it is, but a foke lore in the UK is that in some states in the US all you have to do is drive round the Church to earn your licence!!!
Can anyone confirm that?? Or any other daft rule that grants a licence??
Cheers

your folk lore is true.
you dont have to do **** to get a license in the states. the dmv makes you stop at a light, do a three point turn (sometimes) & asks you to take a left. if you have done this remotely good then you got a drivers license.
of yeah...the multiple choice test can be passed by any non-english reading illegal immigrant as well

Another "almost had an accident in Miami" story happened today. I was driving down US-1 at about SW 136th street and a Celica with a full kit and dubs pulls out right in front of me. I was doing about 45 in a Ford Explorer and they pulled out with about 4 car lengths between us. Fortunately I was riding on fresh tires with new pads and rotors and they seemed content to accelerate as fast as their stunna-mobile could. So the only thing damaged was my respect for South Florida drivers.
Damn dude, I didn't realize you had a WRX too. You have the best of best worlds.
NY drivers are nuts. They're in more of a hurry than North Cakalackians. I think its fun driving up there though. The roads are beat to **** though.
