WTF? Some mechanic is trying to charge me for additional 70 bucks because my car 94 teg has Sliding rotors? I've never heard of this. Is this possible? Or is he trying to shaft me? God I hate not having a garage at my Apt.

Yes, the Integra does have floating calipers, since there is only one piston on one side of the caliper. The caliper has to slide back and forth to apply even pressure to both sides of the rotor, hence the greased slide pins inside the rubber boots on the caliper. Floating calipers are the most common type of brakes.
Fixed calipers have pistons on both sides, like high-performance 4-, 6-, or even 8-piston calipers.
But being the most common type of disc brakes, there definitely should not be any extra charges for floating calipers.

hey, it's not like your dealing with cold in miami (lucky you) if you don't own tools or a jack and jack stands go out and get some it should cost less than what that guy wanted to charge you lol. go to the corner of your parking area out of peoples way at your appt. and do the brakes, it's a very easy job, (quick job, after you have done it once it becomes cake) it's just a few bolts and two screws holding on each rotor, nothing hard at all. I'm sure you can find a how to if you search here or teamintegra.com
hey, miami members someone help this guy out with his brakes, i hate seeing people get shafted by mechanics.

heh I did my brakes in a single parking space right in front of my old apt. a couple years ago. No need to go out of the way. Takes no time at all.
I ****** hate those stupid mechanics, he was probably just doing oil changes last week and just promoted to be a "technician" what a homo
that used to happen to me all time until I finally found a good honest shop

70 to do the whole job is a smoking deal.
I paid $75 just for front rotors and pads from AutoZone and installing it all myself. Of course I know that it was done right.

i'm just wondering if all you guys that did your own brakes, bought new rotors because your old rotors were junk or just because you wanted new ones. most of the time the rotors could be machined if you didn't go metal to metal. although i do know that not everyone has a brake lathe available to do their own rotors on.
oh yeah, tell the shop that you think your muffler bearing is leaking, and your ram rod splined turbine shaft is vibrating. see what they say. i wonder how far that shop will go to shaft you?

If the caliper has gone metal to metal in the sense of that. The car screeches. It mean that I need to get new rotors also?

If you see grooves in your rotor from where the squealer or stuck caliper has damaged it, then you could use a new rotor.
I dont get rotors resurfaced because:
a) theyre cheap...theyre a wear item
b) resurfacing just makes them thinner and more prone to warping in the future
c) Im lazy, and would rather pay $20 a rotor now then have to remove them again in a year to get resurfaced again.
d) Ideally, you want new pads to bed with new rotors.
