Default new catalytic converter

i failed my CA smog test last week so i took my car to the shop for a new cat. i got a completely stock 93 vtec and with the new cat, there seems to be a more airy sound coming from it. and the exhaust sounds a little deeper for some reason. i dont even know what kinda cat they put on, just some cheapy one so i can pass! but..is there anything i should be worried about for the installation since i am hearing new noises?

good thing is i dont smell my own smog anymore

There might be a small hole they missed when they welded the cat on...I know it's extremely hard to weld completely around the piping when it's welded on the car. Or maybe it's just a leaky ex. gasket. Try bringing it back to where you had it done. No use in you racking your brain on something they did.
