Can a h23 turbo pass a emmission test?
I think the 4th gen lude cat is huge, get lots of heat... as i read on the manual, the cat should be hot so that it will be more efficient...
boosting the h23 should hurt emmissions in IL right? we have this sniffer in the exhaust and rpm tests on rollers...
I was thinking of "lean"ing the f-a mixture, and doing something about the waste gate...
Im thinking of a more stupid approach on doubling the cat...
:shrugs:

Go ahead and cover the other items with duct tape and cardboard while you are at it.
The inspectors will know when something aftermarket is added if it is a visual inspection.

unless he's a dumbass and thinks that my resonator is actually a
catback
...were lucky here. 4 now, no actual emission tests

I live in IL so anybody knows somebody that lives here too? im new here btw... I went to the emission site and it seems that it didnt mention any visual.. i could have miss it...
What if i put the obd2? will that get away?

emmisions in IL suck, trust me I know. I don't think they will check if you have a turbo, but that's my guess. I've thought about a few ways to get around it, let me know if these are reasonable:
1) Drive another car in (same model), and change the VIN numbers.
2) The few times I've been there, they only idle test my car. I think it's because my exhaust tip is so close to my rear skirt, so they can't fit the fat rubber condom around my exhaust, therefore, at so low rpm, it won't be in boost when they're testing it hopefully, maybe you can just turn down the fuel at idle?

I talked to my sister's boyfriend who lives in chicago and this is what he told me:
Me: in chicago do they do visual inspections for emmisions?
HIM: no
HIM: OBDII
HIM: If you have a CEL on, you automatically fail
HIM: No, you don't...
HIM: Ok, it's like this
HIM: If your CHeck engine is on, or they can't get to the OBDII, you take a tailpipe test for AWD, and they do a roller test on FWD, RWD and 4x4.
HIM: On 4x4 you can change traction between FWD, AWD or RWD
HIM: New cars take their 1st test in 4 years from the date of their registration and every 2 years after that.

Im confused:
Did they do the the roller test on your car?
What did they do on the idle test?

Well before I had my greddy evo exhaust, and WW rear lip, they used to put my car on the roller and rev it up, and drive it.
Now that i have those things on, they can't fit the rubber thing over my exhaust so they just idle tested it. At idle, you wont be in boost, so maybe there's a loop hole there.
