Default Struts/Shocks

For the 96 accords are the front struts the same as the shocks on it, or is it a whole seperate thing?

Struts are the ones that are just cylinders on its lower part. Shocks have some type of bracket, like those two brackets with a hole in each so a bolt could be inserted through. On Hondas, the strut is up front and the shock is in the back. Some cars, like Subarus, only have shocks for the front and back.
