Default What's the wire hanging from the back of my roof headliner??

Hey guys, I have a wire coming out of the headline towards the rear of the car. It has a wire harness on it. Looks like two wires connect into it. Does anyone know what this wire is??

Could this be the reason why my rear defogger doesn't work?? My rear defogger button lights up but the rear defogger doesn't work.

Any ideas??

Thanks

My guess is rear defroster.

rear defogger, or even an antenna for a mobile phone? Antenna may have gone, but the wiring might remain.
But if the demister doesn't work then it is probably that.

Ok. I am hoping that this is the connector for the defogger, and that it still works.

Now my new question is.. is the connector for the defogger under the roof headlinder?? I don't want to just start tearing the car apart for no reason. I would like to get na idea where the connector is so I can fix this in the quickest time possible.

Thanks

i'll look on my car when i get home if you still need me to....but if you're saying the connector is coming out of the headliner and just hanging there, it sounds like it came loose from the rear window.

Every rear defogger i've looked closely at has been soldered or otherwise attached to the rear window. Juice has to get to those lines running across your window somehow....can you see where it might've come loose from on the window?

WHat year is your lude. If it is a 92-96, all you have to do is pull the headliner down. It is held in place by clips.

It's a 4th gen.

The wires hanging out have a wire harness on them. They are not sodered wires. It is two wires. There was never a car phone in it so I don't think that's what it could be.

Phil, if you could check for me I would appreciate it.

do you still have your third brake light in the rear window? and if so does it work?

that would be my guess without seeing it, the defroster wires are usually soldered onto the window itself, as stated above.

edit: if you still haven't figured it out by the 22nd, i can look at it.
