Default Difference between 88' shock and 90/91, suspension help.

Currently im running on GC's with tokico blues in rear on my 90 crx si. Changed rear LCA's to 88 to run the "hole" shock. I seem to be bottoming out, maybe because shocks are becoming blown but it happnened before on hard bumps. I want to change to koni yellows. I got a pair of 90/91 but need to be rebuilt. I can get a deal on 88 koni yellows but not sure if there is an actualy difference in the two.
Does anyone know if the tube is longer on a 88, meaning less shock travel? Or is the only difference between the two just how it mounts? please let me know if anyone has any suggestions or experience with these shocks and setup, thanks a lot in advance. I want a better ride!

So you have a pair of 88's rears and some 89-91 style? Measure the 2 if so... I might have a set of both in the garage if need be.

I'll have to check the exact specifics at the office tomorrow but the lower mounting (eye on '88, inverted clevice on '89+) is the only thing that I know of. If there is any length difference, it can't be much but I will check. Can't think of a good reason to swap the earlier for the later arms but I guess it doesn't matter.

I know the top mountings, spring perch and valving are identical.

can u check if u have them lying around? because yeah i got a set of 90/91 shocks out but the 88 shocks are actually on my car still.

Lee- can u check at the office then? thanks, but the fronts are ok they dont bottom out or anything also that is because i have the gc top hats on all fours...i only have a problem with the rears. as for the drop im not sure but the fronts have no wheel gap...no tuck either, rears have like 1-1/2 inch gap...shouldnt be that low to where it bottoms out tho.
just would like to know if i should rebuild my 90/91 koni yellows or maybe just buy a pair of 88's that are cheap and new....lmk, thanks a lot guys.
