is 159 thousand miles
Too much for a Honda?, a 91 civic SI? they said that at a mechanics shop i called about. Saying that things would eventually start coming lose and id have to replace it at around 200,000miles. The Engine that is.

I bought my 1991 honda civic with 152,000 miles and now it has 206,000 miles and I have never had any problems with the motor. Still 160 psi on all cylinders. Runs Great.

84 crx almost 300,000 miles on it ran fine execept I had to adjust the Idle screws on the carborator. ran fine until I rolled it down a hill.
current crx 89' Si peice of crap. It came from chicago though and is wrecked. only has 140,000 Miles on chassis and like 10,000 on new motor. 2nd motor swap done on the car.
I also Drive the HELL out of my cars.

you'll see may Honda's out there running with 200k.. hell i goto the car auctions alot.. i've seen honda's with close to 500k still running with a stock motor!.. if you keep up with the oil changes, and the timing belt.. a honda could last u the better part of your life... mine died.. at 178k only because the pervious owner raced it everyday and ran it without oil one time, burning up the rings.. i got the car and ran 20w in it to stop it from smoking.. thats the only reason it died.. if a mechinic says your "honda" won't last its because he is stuck in the dumbmistic scene.. and doesn't know **** about honda's

Exactaly. It's all about if it's been taken care of and if you take care of it.

159k is still fresh man! Most Hondas will go well over 250k if properly maintained!
Best thing to do is check the car over. Oil, coolant, all other fluids, etc. Then if possible, compression test it right there on the spot to diagnose for bad rings/vavles. If everything checks out, you're in good shape.

159k miles is what i consider low mileage for a EF/CRX or even an EG. I had a 89 civic std with 260k miles and the compression numbers read like stock. As long as you keep up with routine maintance (spark plugs/oil changes/timimg belt every 60-80k etc. etc.) it will be fine.
I would say the biggest thing would be the timing belt.
I had a DX with like 165,000 on it and it just didnt start one day. Well quite a few miles before I broke the tbelt driving along the freeway well even after it was replaced it didnt seem right but I just drove it anyway since it was getting a motor swap eventually well one day thats when it didnt start that was over a year ago I finally just ripped apart the old motor (Has an A6 in there now) and found out that I had to broken valves but the bottom end was very very clean!! So the only thing that happened to it was my fault due to me slacking on the tbelt.
