spark plug wires 00 si...??
i was wondering what wires i should use. i have been looking around for the longest time, and i just need some answers and opinions. i have a 2000 civic si. the mods i have done are...i/h/e, denso iridium plugs, venom 400, crane cams ignition and coil, vafc, fuel regulator, skunk 2 IM, and i am getting cams soon. i am currently running the NGK wires. i was looking through the crane ignition manual, and it said that if i use any resitor spark plug wires, that it will reduce my spark output by 30%. well, 1 problem, the NGK wires have resistors in them. i was looking into NOLOGY wires, but i have heard a lot of complaints. i was also looking into the crane cams FIRE WIRE, but i think that 11mm wires might be a little too big. I have only heard a few things about MAGNECORE.
while doing the search, i have found a ton of input, but everyone suggests the NGK, or stock wires. neither of these will help me out because of my ignition and coil setup.
can anyone help me, or give me some imput??

i'e always used NGK/stock wires and they seem to be the best quality and work the best...why can't you use them with your setup?

i have thye NGK on there now. the problem is...since i have the crane igntion and external coil, if i use spark wires with resistors in them, my spark will reduce by 30%. the NGK wires and the OEM wires have resistors in them.

Damn you have all those ignition upgrades for nothing. I hate to say this but I hope you dont think that your ignition upgrades made any more power. Thats pretty overkill cosidering your motor is stock. Maybe you plan on some sick turbo kit in the future ...i dont know but anyhow......the blue NGK wires are the bomb. Stock are great too. I have the Magnecore wires and they are more than I needed for my all motor setup. I dont know why I got them...cuz I hate the way they fit. They used to fall off all the time on the freeway until I zip tied em to the distributor end. Waste of $60. I shoulda just got the NGKs.
It looks as if you are already spending a lot of money on these misc parts (unless they offer the 2-step lauch control mod) so I guess you wont mind spending $100+ on the Nology wires. A lot of radio interference from what I have been told.
i am planning on a turbo soon, but for right now, i am getting some cams and valvetrain installed. i have the vafc and venom 400 which have my car running a bit rich, but i still feel a bit of HP from it. with the NGK wires, i dont think that it is burning all of the extra fuel, so i think that with non-resisted wires, it should burn the fuel, and i should see some extra HP and TQ. thats my opinion. when i get new wires, i will be selling my NGK wires, which only have 1000 miles or less on them.

trust me,30% less should still be more than enough for your setup-the stock ignition is more than enough.i've ran both stock and NGK wires with MSD CD ignition systems on both nitrous and turbo setups and i had no problems.....
basically, you've got to make a decision-either quality and fitment of the OEM/NGK wires or something that meets the suggestiosn for your ignition setup.are you experiencing any problems now with the NGKs?

your stock ignition, regardless of resistor or non-resistor wires, is more than sufficient.if you're running rich, you're running rich-you need to tune the car.your plug wires aren't going to help it.

well you have a good point there. the only problem i found is that my car is running rich, and sometimes i feel a delay when hitting the gas pedal. my car kind of guzzles gas, so i can tune my car down a bit so it doesnt run so rich, but i found that it doesnt run as well for some reason. i was told by a few local people that different wires will help me burn that extra fuel, add hp, and i wont have to tune my car again.

i bought it like 2 years ago, and i never took it out. honestly, that could be part of my problem. i did feel a bit of a difference with it though, but not much

don't listen to them-as long as the wires are in good condition, they're fine.try tuning the A/F ratio some(preferably on a dyno)and also check your timing.

well i have the crane ignition, and external coil. not the stock one.

right-i was just saying that the stock ignition is more than capable, and you're Crane setup is overkill.

sorry about that. well, i mostly got it because of the anti-theft device in it. i already had 1 civic stolen, i didnt want another one to be. so i am doing everything possible to protect it. I thought "while the ignition is on my car, i might as well use it for the multi spark feature, and the anti theft"

thought the info in this thread would be of interest to you-some peopel replied about using the NGK wires with higher power ignition systems:

"However, I use nothing but NGK 8mm, even with my MSD ignition.
Lil Natural - 9 sec N/A CRX with h22a has a controled MSD ingition, they run only NGK 8mm as well. Guess what, they constantly tune on a dyno. It makes you think.. "
