Default my accord idles horribly.....

hey guys i need help.when i start my 93 accord up it idles at 800 rpms no matter what time of day i start it.when the car gets warm the idle jumps to 1500 rpms consistently. when i unplug the IACV the idle drops down to normal temp of 600 rpm.i have replaced the IACV 3 times now with USED ones. im throwing a code 6 and i have replaced the coolant temp sensor with a new honda one.any ideas?

I don't remember what code 6 is, but if your replacing IACV with USED ones, I would recommend a new one, and if that doesn't work get a refund on the new part. You may want to check out http://www.hparts.com and http://www.thepartsbin.com they have a lot of OEM honda parts or you can search for them, worse case scenario go to your local honda dealership, you will pay more but those OEM parts seem to just work better than autozone/kragen/napa parts.

well the code 6 is the coolant temp sensor which i heard will cause the high idle and the iacv to go crazy...is that true?

I would say yes, its like when your ecu is throwing a code it will usually run more rich, it goes into a "default" type mode to prevent or delay detenation. Like when my speed sensor went out I was throwing a tranny code, you may want to replace the iacv with new parts and if that doesn't work try a combination of the iacv and coolant temp sensors, but sounds like you have the problem narrowed down.
Check out this thread....also not to be rude but try searching too, usually your questions are already answered and you can get a quicker answer that way too

If you've already replaced the ECT sensor, then check it's wiring back to the ECM. Bad wiring may have been the problem in the first place...

I'd have to look at a wiring diagram & I wouldn't trust mine is the same as '93...

If you don't have a multi-meter, I'd unplug the harnesses from the ECM so you don't fry that with a test light. If the wiring diagram says one wire from the sensor is supposed to be grounded, you check with an ohm-meter to make sure it is. Then check the other wire, probably supposed to go to a certain pin on the ECM.

You need to reset ecu, it will adjust your fuel/air ratio on majority of mods and when adding a vafc it needs to be reset due to its new equipment sending info in and out of the ecu, plus you will get more gains and better fuel economy and not throw any cel's.
and just checking you know how to reset ecu?

is yo coolant full?
if so then make sure there is not an air pocket in it.
how many miles?
ever had a water pump? the reason i ask is because coolant may not be reaching the thermo valve it that is the case it will surge/ lope at idle like for 800 to 1600.
and last but not least pull one screw out of the thermo valve cap and loosen the other move your lid over and is there vac. there or is it totaly sealed?
if not totaly sealed adjust the large wax ring until there is no vac. there and that should fix it!
