Default H22 into EG question...(i searched)

me and a couple friends are preparing to put an H22 into an EG. ive had one experience with an engine swap but this is my question.
would it be possible to use an engine hoist to lift the front of the car high enough so we can dolly the motor under? ive seen other shops do swaps and they all go from under which looks a lot easier, but we dont have a lift. i helped put a B16 into a CRX and that was a bitch going from the top and lowering the motor...so anything to ease this installation a little would help a lot.. TIA

yes you can do it, but putting it in from the top is not that hard, just get a tilt from an auto parts store so you can tilt the motor while putting it in from the top!

i've done it both ways. just make sure you take the TB off, so you don't break it

i perfer under for going out, and over the top for going in. it was just easier for me that way

like i said, ive done only 1 other swap and we did that from the top. it was a bitch trying to angle it just right without hitting anything, so i was thinking this H22 project will be even harder. now using a hoist to lift the car, is there any risk of bending anything on the car? from the link, it looks like they used the engine mounts, is this safer than any other locations? thanks again guys

yup!

we found this out the hard way... we were putting my h22 in, and couldnt figure out how to put it straight down in there... then someone just happened to run in to the engine, and a chain slipped. after we all nearly soiled our pants, we looked and low and behold... it was perfect, the tranny side slipped down far enough for us to put the engine in there... go figure eh....

lol

thanks.. much needed info! my h22 goes in late jan.. i can't wait..

Is it worth all the headaches and "steering issues" i've heard of.. I don't think there could be that major differences from a H to b series.. only 70lbs more.
