1991 civic swap question
i am doing an auto to manual swap, i know what to do and what parts i need..but i went and bought the pass. side frame rail mount bracket because everyone said i needed to...i bought it for a '91 civic si 5 speed and even looked at the picture the guy brought up on the computer at the dealership to make sure it was the one...but now that i have the bracket and compare it to the auto one it looks exactly the same..i know it is a manual bracket...so did i even need it in the first place?i know on 92-up civic swaps u need it..

The reason they look the same is because they are the same. The 88-91 auto and manual cars have the same tranny frame rail bracket. Only the 92+ hydro are different and need changed.
I have a 91 CRX DX which was an automatic. I installed a 96 B18B1 LS with YS1 GSR cable 5spd tranny. I used HASport EF mount kit and it fit perfectly, no mods to the chassis other than the dent for the alternator pulley and bending down the lip on the rear cross member. I did the swap almost 3 years ago and people told me the same thing about having to weld in the manual mount bracket, luckily I never did that because it's unnecessary.
