any one using mustang throttlebodies on the r 2.2?
yes you can do it, but i believe the stock 5.0 throttlebodys are around 60mm, not much of an improvement. I guess you could source a used BBK (cheap) tb for a 5.0 and adapt it to fit. they offer them in 65, 70, 75 and 80mm. you should be able to find one used for around $75-90

I was being a smart ***.
A lot of people think that a huge TB will give them some great horsepower gains. They don't understand that unless you do something to your intake manifold too the gains are going to be very limited.

You can use a Infinity Q45 TB also.
But like Lone Luder stated, it isnt going to do you any good unless you bore out the intake plenum.
But even boring the plenum probably wont do much, unless you do something to the intake runners, and port the head.

I agree and understand what you are saying but why would someone go to all the trouble to make a mustang tb fit and not have the intake mani modded? Also, according to all i've read and seen, as long as the IM is port matched you will see good gains. I think everyone knows you cant get the full benefit of a tb without IM mods. To me its kinda like a turbo with no intercooler...It works great but would work much better with the intercooler.

I've been in this forum for years... you'd be very surprised at what "everyone knows." lol

i got a sheet metal intake and the car is turbo thats why im asking and imm looking for something a lot bigger then a factory mustang throttle basically i want to know how much moding had to be done cause i can get them made up to 100mm but im thinking the suprag t/b might be eaisieer

That's what the twin-turbo H22 Apex-i drag car is using. That plus a stock intake manifold with a spacer and obviously the dual runners removed, etc.

I'm also curious what "mods" you had to do to adapt a mustang TB to the Stock manifold.
By the way. A 3" TB on a FI car is good up to 600 WHP. Velocity not reaching more than mach .4 Referenced from Corky bells book "Maximum Boost" I had to do the math first though. For those of you who work in MM.. That's 25.4 x 3 = 76.2mm TB.
