J.R.S.C. ?'s noise?
i found whati thik is a pretty good deal on a j/r supercharger dor my d-series motor. on thing is that the charger has about 100,000 miles on it and makes a bit of a knocking sound. the person says that it made the noise ever since he bought it 60k miles ago. i know this guy, he's a friend and is being very straight forward with me. is this noise normal? i searched a bit and all i came up with is a scraping noise. also are these superchargers servicable? i thought that i heard something about the bearings not be servicable? any help wuld eb great.
100,000 miles is the service life of the blower as quoted by Jackson Racing. Rebuilds cost about $550 so unless you're getting it for about that price, you might want to look elsewhere...
The two different blowers I owned both had smooth bearing noise when rotated, and my GSR's had a slight clunk that went away after rotating it by hand about 100 times. Might not have had the oil circulated after shipping, but it's still running strong nearing 75,000 miles on the blower (+15,000 from previous owner).

well i just found out that the guy only put 35,000 on it and he has no idea how many were on it when he got it. i just don't need it to fail right away or even in the next year. this is my daily driver.
If you're not sure about this, you should look elsewhere. There are many people selling blowers with only 10,000-30,000 miles on them, and d-series SC's can be had for a very good price. Check out the Forced Induction Classifieds...
