ok in advance thanks for responds. right now i have a 93 civic ex coupe with 100k miles on it.. i know that HB wiegh less which is good and i like the way that they look but is it worth it to try and sell the coupe and get a HB.

so what i really want to know is that are HB so much better?

i know that most will say to go with what i prefer.

Its not that much lighter, unless you wanna get a cx or vx in wich case yes it will be lighter but you have no power unless your going to swap the motor soon afterwards. Keep the coupe, just do some weight reduction. what are your plans for the car? Are you looking for speed or show?

Then you have your answer

Hatch - lightweight
Coupe - trunk

i have a 6th gen coupe just because i prefer having a trunk. even though a hatch is lighter that doesn't mean a coupe can't be fast... speed is not a deciding factor, with the coupe you just need a little more power. in the end it is all about what function the car needs to fill.

You're probably not making enough HP to see a noticeable difference.

Plus, hatchbacks are ugly

See my sig: "Coupe Squad! We don't need no stinkin' hatches!"

go with the coupe and build that motor. It will save you time, money, and a few headaches. The d16z6 is becoming real popular as a swap. and you already have it and it makes decent power, has vtec, and the aftermarket is just as good as the b series stuff. also which would you rather blow a 3000$ b series, or you 500$ d series?

Stick with the coupe. You most likely won't notice any difference unless you swap a more powerful engine in a base model.

ya, it's not worth the hassle of selling and buying. Just stick with what you have, and maybe work on a little weight reductions.. My EJ is coming down under 2100 lbs now.

So form over function, heh?

Hatchie gets my vote. But, I am biased. If I had gotten a coupe I'd say stay with that. Since you have a coupe, go for it.

If you are REALLY serious, go the lightweight route and get a hatch.

My $.02

I say keep you what you have. I was flabbergasted at how much some of these Honda's weigh. I just came from the Nissan world. I had a 240sx and peopel were braggin how light hose were at 2700lbs!!! My Honda HX weighs 2300 and some change. So no weight reduction for me.....!

Just get what you like, unless its some full race car with the sole purpose of racing.

Everyone hollers about the weight of the coupe. Rubbish. My car only weighs 2180 w/o me in it, with a full tank of gas, no gutting/stripping except I removed my AC,never had PS, have no fender wheel/under bumper lining, have a race steering wheel, lightweight wheels, and a sparco sprint seat. My car could be drastically lighter ('93 dx coupe).

I've got a coupe, but I miss the utility of a hatchback; being able to put lots of stuff in a hatch is nice. However, I think Civic hatches get stolen more often. I just wish that Honda had offered the 6th gen hatches with the Y8 instead of the Y7. Oh well.

if you are really really serious about racing, get a hatch. but for the trouble, id say just keep what you have. its not that big of a difference. i know i would not go through thte trouble of selling my car and buying another that is almost the same thing to save 150lbs unless it was going to be intened for competitive track use.
