Default Buying a turbo kit? Look here first!!!!

I wanted to post this here because I wish I would have found it before I bought my kit! This is what everyone who is buying turbo kit needs. I have no affiliation with Hondadriven.com it is just one of the coolest things ever.

Yeah thats pretty good, but if you wanted a truly custom kit you could piece it together yourself. Their prices are ok, but you can find better deals. Nice find though even though they are site sponsors

I know they are sponsors and I realize other sponsors/members sell the same things. I am just a huge fan of a useful webpage and that is one of the best tools I have seen. Other companies should consider doing something similiar.

Actually I think those prices are all pretty fair. And for someone who doesnt have your extensive knowlege of everything turbo, and how to build your own kit its a real handy tool!

I don't think I have extensive knowledge on everything turbo or how to build my own kit, but I am doing it right now. Prices might be fair, but they are still going to be making money off of you for something anybody can do themselves with a little research. The internet is a very handy tool as well if you ask me.

I got all my piping, couplers, etc. for $115 brand new and they will work just as well as anything else out there. Paying $385 for charge piping is rediculous. I would rather save $270 instead of wasting it just to look bling bling.

cool idea although prices aren't high, there are better deals out there on the IP manifold and precision turbo though. Cool idea, if someone did this with more options and maybe better pricing it would make customizing your turbo kit from one source really easy

Mpir3, I know you don't really like my opinions and you probably don't even like me too much even though we have never met, so with that said I will state what I dislike this this sites current setup in a more constructive manner.

First of all, I dont think it gives you enough options on turbos. I think it should offer you t3's, t3/t4's, and precision. Not everyone that builds a kit wants to build it with a precision turbo.

Next, I find Drag "Chrome" Piping to be a rip off. I would imagine i could find some company on ebay with a mandrel bender more than happy to make me mandrel bent charge pipe sets that would cost me about $100-150. Then I could take it outside and spray it with some nice shiney spray paint or even splurge and have it powder coated and it still probably fall under $385.

I guess my main problem with this site is its bias towads certain brands. The BOV section really shows it with its full support of $185+ BOVs. Especially when you can get a Bosch, DSM, and a few other brands brand new for $50-70.

All in all i dont think this is a bad resource. I think it has its pluses, the fact you can build your own kit and not have to buy a drag or a revhard kit that comes with certain parts that "suck" but if you contact any dealer on this site they will do the same so its really a moot point. Also many people have a problem with shitty oil lines and things of that nature and they dont go into much detail over those so it could be the POS rubber Oil lines.

Basically what im saying is, this site is an improvement over just saying "Go buy a DRAG kit" but i think the turbo kit in the box fad has really decreased in recent months and more and more people are just taking the weak pieces out of those kits and replacing them IE: offering precision turbos and tial wastegates with nearly every turbokit.

It may not be good to you, but for the people that want the Precision Turbo & intercooler, A hondata S100b for 300 bucks!!! If you dont like the piping select none and you dont pay 385 for it. I want the Greddy type S. Just because it is not good for you doesnt mean it is a bad idea, because for me it works and i think its a great idea!

I'd like ask you where you got this information from? Our numbers don't support that. We currently ship more DRAG turbo kits than we ever have.

I respect your opinions and thoughts on what you want for a turbo kit, hell my piping is ghetto, my main point is that $385 is not a bad deal for Drag piping, yes not everybody wants to spend that much for piping. but Some people have the money to spend that much on piping and won't hesitate to spend it, to those people that want it, that price is a good deal, just because you don't want it doesn't mean you have to flame the price because YOU would never pay that much for piping...

can you really call those kits you sell Drag Kits when you swap out the fuel management w/ hondata, the turbo for a precision, and the wastegate with a tial????

Yes we can because the major components are still DRAG parts. I don't understand the bandwagon behind bashing DRAG parts. They are quality parts and we stand behind them 100%. We only offer the upgrades because our customers want them.

so what is a turbokit? you have a kit when the manifold matches the DP? I always thought a turbokit was what came in the box from the company....
