a6 pistons in a z6 block???????????
i just read where a6 pistons wont work in a z6 if the z6 needs to be bored, is this true. i know for a fact that i will need to get it bored atleast 10 over if not 15-20.
has anyone ran into this when boring there z6 block and putting in a6 pistons, or are the a6 pistons larger diameter than the z6.

Seriously, u people just come on here to flame dont u, cause when somone has a real ???????? nobody accually answers. i know for a fact that there are people out there who have done this and know what i am talking about. what is the point of a tech forum if noone wants to answer any questions. this place is just about worthless!!!!!!!!!!
Great then go the **** somewhere else and get your precious quesitons answered.
A6 pistons are 75mm just like the Z6. The come in standard and .25 O/S. Now go cry to your damn mother.

very true bout ur second post... most ppl come on here to flame rather than give tech info... anywho... d16s in general are 75mm (bore), so technically, they SHOULD fit. I dont see why they wouldnt. Post in the EF forum, maybe they have some experience with that...
you do not need to bore your block unless you have .25 a6 pistons....otherwise they will just drop in....IT IS HIGHLY RECOMENDED YOU HONE your cylinder walls
will a6 pistons raise or drop the compressioN??
I have a DOHC ZC and I know my bore is 75mm, I never knew there were OEM over sized a6 pistons.....hmmm
SUp chad.....seen you post whoring many boards.....racing slow?

a6 pistons should probably give somewhere around a 11:1 compression in a z6 and a1 pistons should be a little over 12:1 I belive. Maybe a little more for y8's.
Here's the best idea yet!
Get on the damn internet, and search for this ****.
Here's a link, post something worthwhile, not just a guess.

Z6 stock compression is 9.1:1
A6 pistons in a Z6 will give 10.4:1
A1 pistons in a Z6 will give 13.6:1
I recommend A6 pistons in a Z6.
You definitely want to use BRAND NEW .25 overbore pistons w/ a bored and honed block when you put new pistons in. What happens over time is both the piston and cylinder walls become oval shaped, allowing oil to slip past the rings, even if they are new. You NEVER want to use old pistons.

And YOUR *** needs to learn to use the god damn search function. I have probably answered this question for the 40th time.

Z6 CR is actually 9.2:1 to be right on the dot.
And I know people who have run pistons fr over 25 years and swap in new rings once a year.
As long as the pistons are in good shape, ou can re use them, just get new rings.
It's called "overhauling", not rebuilding

Okay, well lemme rephrase it. Both the cylinder walls and pistons are wear items. If you put 11 year old oval-shaped pistons into a 5 year old circular-shaped block...you're gonna have problems. Usually the cylinder wall becomes oval shaped WITH the piston, so re-using the stock pistons usually isnt a problem
